girty1600 Posted December 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2004 Fetus Taken From Slain Woman's Womb Friday, December 17, 2004 SKIDMORE, Mo. — A 23-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant was killed at her home here Thursday and had the fetus cut from her womb, authorities said. The Nodaway County Sheriff's Department was investigating the afternoon killing of the woman and they were searching for the baby, who they believed could have survived. Authorities had not reported the finding of the baby late Thursday. "Someone was wanting a baby awful bad," said Sheriff Bill Espey. The victim was found inside her home by her mother, who called police at 3:38 p.m., authorities said. Paramedics tried to revive the woman; she was later pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville. Espey said it appeared the victim was apparently killed no more than an hour before she was found. Strangulation was being looked at as a possible cause of death; an autopsy was to be conducted by the Jackson County medical examiner. There were no visible signs of a struggle on the victim and no indication of forced entry into her small white home, Espey said. link This is so sad. twpdyp Posted December 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2004 (edited) Ok all, now tell me that this sick (*(^(&^$^#&%$(&^%(&^% deserves life in prison over the death penalty. I have argued for the death penalty for years and once again we are faced with another case where a monster is walking about, do we kill it or do we allow it to live in prison until it dies of natural causes. Missouri and the Death Penalty Missouri allows the death penalty as an option in cases of first-degree murder. The sentence is death by lethal injection or lethal gas. Minimum age for death penalty: 16 Executions 1930-1976: 73 Executions since 1977: 32 http://www.courttv.com/archive/legaldocs/capital/map/mo.html Just some more fact concerning Missouri and that states use of the death penalty. Assuming this thing is even caught. MISSOURI Execution dates are set by the state Supreme Court. Eight citizen witnesses are required. Executions are conducted by lethal injection at the Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point and are scheduled for 6 pm. http://www.prodeathpenalty.com/UnitedStates.htm#in Edited December 17, 2004 by twpdyp

Elfstone810 Posted December 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2004 (edited) OMG! I live in Missouri, too. I'm not sure exactly where Skidmore is. Maryville is only about two hundred miles north of here. And, yes, we have the death penalty. But what do you bet if they find the killer (especially if it's a woman) they plead insanity and get a lesser sentence or no sentence at all? That's kind of the "Catch 22" with the insanity plea. If someone does something horrible enough they can claim they were obviously insane because only an insane person would do something that horrible. Anyway, my guess is they need to look for a woman who's been claiming to be pregnant without showing and has now "had" a baby outside of a hospital. Elfstone810 Posted December 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2004 THEY FOUND HER!!! They're doing DNA tests to be sure she's the right baby, but they found her at the home of a Kansas couple who had a car matching one that was seen leaving the murder scene. The doctors say she's going to be okay with "minimal treatment". HALLELUJAH!!!! Poor little angel! What a start in life! I feel so bad for her family, but now at least her dad and grandparents will have her to remember her poor mom by. They've not released any details yet about the couple that had her. They're still at the stage of saying they're "interviewing" them. The Kansas City paper said early leads suggested they wanted the baby to sell. If that was their motive, I'm betting this does turn out to be a capital case. Anyway, the important thing tonight is that the baby is alive and well! AztecInca Posted December 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 17, 2004 The people who did this need to suffer first, then they can be permanently removed from society as painfully as possible!
