Yellowstone Tourists Put Baby Bison in Car

Recommended Posts

Two tourists visiting Yellowstone National Park were ticketed earlier this week after they allegedly put a baby bison inside their vehicle over fears the calf was freezing, witnesses say.

The father and son, who were from another country, appeared to be concerned over the health of the animal when they arrived with it in the trunk of their SUV at a ranger station on Monday, EastIdahoNews.com reports. "They were demanding to speak with a ranger," witness Karen Richardson, of Idaho, told the news site. "They were seriously worried that the calf was freezing and dying."

Well at least it wasn't for a selfie this time.

The calf was probably trembling out of fear by being approached and grabbed by these idiots...it was not cold.

"Yellowstone Tourists Do Something Incredibly Stupid"

Too bad the bison's mother wasn't nearby to see what was happening, because then this:

Nah, the mother bison wouldn't have eaten the idiots (bison are herbivores). No, she'd have just stomped them to death...they'd have needed dental records for identification.

I used that to describe how furious the mother would be, and the fate that those idiots could/should have faced. :)

This is why I hate people.

For once, Im not p***ed off at humanity - they were trying to do the right thing.

Good on them.

Yes it was incredibly stupid.

"Nice people. Too bad they didn't understand basic nature and that mother bison violently removed them from reality."

And now the calf has been euthanized.

Gee, why was that? Was the calf sick?

Are there links to support his claim?

It was euthanized after it's herd refused to accept it.

Yeah, it was most likely not well. Such a shame but nature can be very cruel at times.

It really made no sense that they 'had to euthanize' it, unless it was already very sick.

Maybe it was already rejected by the herd, and was left to die. The people who picked it up obviously shouldn't have done so, but I think they had good intentions.

It was newborn, and after being handled by the humans trying to "save" it, the mother abandoned it. There aren't surrogate, nursing bison moms around, so the park had no choice.

I'm not sure if any pure blood bison exist anymore. Most are beefalo.

No choice? They couldn't donate it to a rancher, a petting zoo, or some other facility?

Quarantined or not, someone kid could have hand fed this animal as a 4-h project.

I agree, but there must be more to the reason it was put down.
