My present avatar is a part of what you could see on your screen if we were having a video call online. This is a cropped screenshot. A cropped window.

My present avatar conveys the idea it's really me (Anthony), close and remote at the same time.

 

That big poster in the background is a photograph of the Andromeda galaxy (M31), hung on the wall in front of my webcam.

I simply enjoy watching that galaxy. I'm not an expert, I'm just an astronomy (astrobiology) fan.

Some own a big poster of Britney Spears. In my case, I own a big poster of M31.

My present avatar is a cropped version of a direct photograph of the Sun I took years ago thanks to my digital camera. I could see the image of the Sun displayed on my camera screen, without harming my eyes (see photo below).

I live in northwestern France and a sunny day here is often considered auspicious (not always though). My avatar means "(generally) auspicious and bright light". "The light of a star, the Sun". "Light", simply.
