I doubt any of them can. Who could? But they have to. None of the officials walking through that crime scene will sleep well tonight or any time soon after seeing all that. The carnage must be unreal.

Yeah...

We recognize the suffering of the families of the victims and the victims who are in the hospital but the suffering of the survivors will also be lifelong. No one that unfortunately was made to be a part of this will ever be the same.

The Bataclan in Paris- where 90 people were massacred by Islamic terrorists, is set to reopen in November-- only a year after.

I would think that the Gay community would rally and make Pulse bigger and better than it ever was in defiance of the HATE that is Islamic ideology.

That's the American way.

Do you have a link?

And wouldn't this then label this a hate crime?

Yes it was a hate crime but its still a Islamist terrorist attack.  The man swore allegiance to ISIS.

I guess we'll see. Orlando Pulse, being NOT a landmark, as opposed to the Bataclan in Paris, I suspect that, like in the case of the McDonald's massacre in CA years ago, the nightclub will be demolished, and either turned into a parking lot or memorial park.

Just my thoughts though... I don't know.

Men and women  should not be allowed in the same room lest sin occur.

A perfect example of 'what to do.'

On August 2, 2012, Congress passed a bill that included restrictions on demonstrators at military funerals, which became law four days later when signed by President Obama. The bill says that for 2 hours before until 2 hours after the funeral service demonstrators must stay at least 300 feet (91 m) away from the boundary of the funeral location and away from the residence of grieving family members.[128]

---Because of their religious views-- they have had some of their "rights" taken from them.  For example, Westboro Baptist Church Members may not travel to Canada or the UK.

They relinquish their rights by virtue of their radical religious beliefs, which influence their behavior.

Say, does anyone know as to how well the surviving victims are recovering? I haven't heard, as yet, any additional fatalities.

I've heard differing just-prior home of the shooter... Port St. Lucie or Fort Pierce.

The reason I ask is that I was born and raised in Fort Pierce, and lived for a short time in Port St. Lucie, which is only like 10-miles away from Fort Pierce.

What a horrid and tragic crime! No matter how we dissect it, it is a wicked act by an evil man. That's true for all such acts of murder. The root of mass homicide is found in the worst part of humankind. It doesn't matter how we categorize or label it. It all comes from the darkness. That darkness has many faces, from terrorism to school shootings, but it's all the same. It's an intentional attack on the inner light of humanity.

I doubt it. The hospital is so overwhelmed they've asked visiting families to please leave and come back tomorrow for status and identification updates.

God can you imagine having to wait until tomorrow for that? No, just no.

Many are in serious condition. It is possible that some won't make it, but doctors are trying hard to make sure the injured pull through. They just said the blood banks are now at capacity and don't need anymore donations. 100's of Floridians went to donate when the plea went out for blood for transfusions.

The BBC are reporting this...

Sr US official tells

@bbcnewsUS #OrlandoShooting appears not tied to IS-central, but still piecing together.

This was quoted at 11:42 pm GMT.

I'm not saying the guy did not swear allegiance to Daesh, but it may be a bit more complicated than just saying "it was Islamic terrorism".

I heard that there was a request from the Gov. of Florida to Obama, to do an "emergency lifting" of the HIPAA law, specific to this tragedy, and that was granted many hours ago.

Police who are working the crime scene inside the nightclub are saying they keep hearing the victim's cellphones ringing because loved ones are not yet aware that someone is deceased. It could take awhile to process and remove all those bodies. I don't envy them the job.

As someone who actually works in the Health Information Management field, I totally agree with this decision. Especially on the basis of just telling people a yes or no if someone was a victim, and what their status is.

That just made me feel physically sick. How awful. When I was reading up on that contestant from the Voice who was just killed, I thought to myself, how strange it is to die suddenly in the age of social media. The singer had just made a video on twitter asking for people to come to her concert and is then shot afterwards. I am sure so many of the victims in this case had pictures posted hours earlier, smiles on their faces, just ready to have a good time. God, life is too damn short, you never know when someone will be taken away from us.

No.

It isn't complicated at all.

The President likes to say things are "complicated" whenever reality bumps up against his ideology.  Whenever truth is uncomfortable.

Why are you mistaking me, or the "Senior Official" in the quote I posted, for the President? I only posted what was reported, and that only referred to a "senior (US) official", so why bring up Obama?

I seem to remember there was the assumption of Muslims being involved in the Oklahoma City bombing, until they did find out it was local individuals who did it. My first thought was, when read where it occurred, was something more local, even if it's a lone figure, based in the attitude of some ideals of this country. I just don't think a gay club would be the place hit for Islamic targets.

In that case, the murderer was an atheist from New York. He wasn't a local.

What are you talking about? This has nothing to do with partisan politics, rather, a lone-wolf radical Islamic-bent weirdo that decides to murder innocent people for them being gay.

ISIS "spokesmen" supposedly claimed that they were involved in some manner. I'll wait for the dust to settle before I discard my grains of salt. You don't know what or who to believe during the "fog of war", especially when there's a mad rush to report *any* information. It wouldn't shock me if he was linked to ISIS, and it wouldn't stun me if he was a crazy loner.
