itsnotoutthere Posted January 4, 2017 #2051 Share Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Interesting news item :- Jean-Claude Juncker blocked EU curbs on tax avoidance, cables show :- The president of the European commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, spent years in his previous role as Luxembourg’s prime minister secretly blocking EU efforts to tackle tax avoidance by multinational corporations, leaked documents reveal. Efforts by a majority of member states to curb aggressive tax planning and to rein in predatory tax policies were regularly delayed, diluted or derailed by the actions of a few of the EU’s smallest members, frequently led by Luxembourg. A spokesperson for Luxembourg’s finance ministry refused to comment on the positions previous governments had taken in private EU discussions. “We have no knowledge of the communications you claim to have, and whether they are genuine, and therefore cannot comment on them,” he said. The Guardian spoke to another former member of the code of conduct committee, who did not want to be named but corroborated claims in the leaked cables that Luxembourg was regularly among those looking to frustrate EU efforts to tackle tax avoidance. link :- https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/jan/01/jean-claude-juncker-blocked-eu-curbs-on-tax-avoidance-cables-show Edited January 4, 2017 by itsnotoutthere

No one predicted the backlash against the establishment, here or abroad. You'd have had to have been very stupid or stuck in a Guardian bubble of complacency not to sense that there might be a backlash against the Establishment. So no wonder you were taken by surprise by it.
alibongo Posted January 5, 2017 Author #2053 Share Posted January 5, 2017 The UK has had enough of "so-called" experts: if we want economic advice we will rely on someone who has had a bit of experience serving in Poundland, if we want advice on foreign relations we will rely on someone who has holidayed in Spain recently. How many times do people have to try to explain before your brain is capable of understanding, the "experts" are not speaking the truth about what will without question happen, they don't know. They can just make "predictions" which simply means making up some completely arbitrary figure "£3.2 billion! 556.3 million! Everyone will be £320 a week worse off!" and the Gaurdina and the BBC repeat it as fact, that somehow these "experts" know for a fact that by 2030, the economy will be £234 billion worse off.

If we was to rewind the clock to a point in history - The majority of the "experts" of the day would be telling us the world is flat, the Guardian and BBC would report this as undeniable fact. Those who opposed the "experts" knowledge of a flat earth would be jailed or burnt at the stake - by those same experts with the backing of both the state and religious institutions. Its much the same today for Alibongo, The pro-EU "experts" opinions should be accepted without question and the Brexiteers should be jailed or burnt at the stake. Just as in the days of flat earthers - Like Giordano Bruno and many others who today are held up as myrtyr of Science for holding a different view to the "experts" The posts of Alibongo especially the condescending post about the lad who works at pound land, So what if someone works at pound land when did working and being in employment become contemptuous. Alibongo, You have done nothing to further the Remains' cause; Im even confident enough to say - If Br Cornelius and Questionmark where around they'd distances themselves from your comments and opinions, and those two posters where staunch EU supporters, such is the utter crap you post. it actually makes one appreciate the contributions both Br Cornelius and Questionmark made over the years. Because your mutterings have long since been regarded as worthwhile. Alibongo you Sir, are simply a buffoon. alibongo Posted January 6, 2017 Author #2067 Share Posted January 6, 2017 (edited) I feel people shouldn't have had a vote on Brexit unless they had a real stake in the UK. Like owning property, houses, business, etc.I also believe renting is wrong, people should be allowed to buy their home at a cost price. The referendum was let loose on everyone, even the unemployed, northerners, and homeless-who have no incentive to improve the standard of living in the UK. A decent government would make home ownership a possibility to every citizen, we are a rich country and could afford this. Habitat Posted January 6, 2017 #2070 Share Posted January 6, 2017 I interpret that emoticon to indicate your post shows confusion, Mr Bongo. You appear to say that everyone deserves a home, but if they don't have one, they don't deserve a vote.

If anyone took you seriously any more they might remark that you're confusing yourself again. So unemployed and homeless people have no incentive to improve the standard of living? You realise what a stupid thing to say that is?
