NASA Approves 2018 Launch of Mars InSight Mission

Quote

NASA is moving forward with a spring 2018 launch of its InSight mission to study the deep interior of Mars, following final approval this week by the agency’s Science Mission Directorate.

The Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport (InSight) mission was originally scheduled to launch in March of this year, but NASA suspended launch preparations in December due to a vacuum leak in its prime science instrument, the Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure (SEIS).

The delays are unfortunate, but waiting for it to be right will hopefully be worth it.  The hard part will be to Gremlin-proof the probe.  Sounds like they are having free reign right now.

meh it is just propaganda. There is no real interest for that dead planet. Must be that the tons of money are pumped in somethink else.

There will come an extinction event to this planet as there has before. If we have a remnant of our civilization established on another planet, such as Mars, then we have insured our species will survive and perhaps flourish in ways we have yet to realize. This wonderful ability to go forth, persevere and adapt is the essence of what makes us humans.
