mstower Posted January 13, 2018 #1551 Share Posted January 13, 2018 I was going through the earlier part of the thread and I spotted this example of Creighton’s “method”: On 11/20/2017 at 11:26 AM, Scott Creighton said: Here again, Kmt_Sesh, I see a parting of the ways. "They could not". Well that seems fairly emphatic, does it not? And I suspect it is founded very much in the Euro-centric view that Champollion was first. He certainly appears to have been first among European scholars . . . First to what, Creighton? This is like invoking Francocentrism in support of Young’s claims. Are you really going to fudge the difference between getting a few characters right and Champollion’s achievement? We see that you are. On 11/20/2017 at 11:26 AM, Scott Creighton said: . . . but the mere fact that we have Coptic-Egyptian texts translated by Arabic scholars attests tot he fact that they beat Champollion by a thousand or so years. Newsflash: Coptic texts were written in Coptic script—and we are told (and the likely explanation is) that any such translation was done by bilingual Copts. They beat Champollion by a thousand years or so? Utter charlatanism. M.
stereologist Posted January 18, 2018 #1552 Share Posted January 18, 2018 I just bumped into this: https://www.yahoo.com/news/great-pyramid-void-may-contain-112002178.html Quote Now, one expert has put forth a hypothesis addressing the mystery: The void could contain a great iron throne referenced in the Pyramid Texts, the oldest known religious texts in the world.

Quaentum Posted January 18, 2018 #1554 Share Posted January 18, 2018 You mean this iron throne? Sorry they already recovered it and put it on display for the Queen to see.

Void speculation generator: Choose a “Gantenbrink’s Door” speculation. Choose a factor. Multiply the GD speculation by the factor. Post result. M. BorizBadinov Posted January 18, 2018 #1557 Share Posted January 18, 2018 It's an archaeological lottery ticket. Al Capone's vault before its opened. What's in there? Oh it must be wonderful things! Make random claim and use the attention to boost followers, maybe even get a TV special because people will eat up outlandish claims. You can use this wild speculation probably for years with no real way to disprove it. Once the area is explored (if it ever is) and found empty you can claim well it could have been, which isn't technically false and blow it off. if what you claim is there by some miracle of chance you get to claim you knew all along. Winning!

Winning! There are many, many fringies who expect to be able to do just that. Each has his own pet theme. Is there some way we can video all of them so that we can see their faces fall when reality intrudes?

However, documenting the various prognostications (complete with any and all critical "citation" data, dates, etc.) may make for an interesting future read. Between contrasting and comparing the assorted propositions and the respective author's attempts to evade/redact their voiced positions, a notable amount of humor may well be derived. An amusing project to be sure. .

Winning! So it's "Heisenberg's vault"... everything is in there, including Jimmy Hoffa's body, the Lost City of Atlantis, and humanity's moral compass. Once it's opened, everything inside will vanish.

It is dangerous to feed the fringe.
