Yes. Must maintain current standards to keep the checks coming. The living are always more important than the dead.

Well, yes. To be blunt.

they are.

Hey if they excavate the tomb of Qin then more archeaologists would have jobs. Hello???

Damn dude you lost me there with 'archeaology is a livelihood' and then being opposed to digging the tomb of Qin.

Archaeology IS a livelihood FOR SOME. Unfortunately it's not a very large career field. Not many people are busting down the doors to become one.

Putting out fires is a livelihood, but turning up and using the hoses on a barbecue is uncalled for.

Well quite. It’s a career in ruins from the beginning.

The Japanese had it figured out, resetting their calendar to zero with each new emporer.

Well, you live in a republic where the leader is changed every 4 to 8 years and I have a seemingly deathless Queen.

True. But are fires inside the human mind comparable?

The only people who should have hoses turned on them are the terminally daft. You may wish to invest in some surf ware dearie.

Hey. I'm going to bed on that one.

Know this- your Queen keeps dead folks off of your money. Here in the US, nothing but dead folks appear everytime I make a buck.

My money is covered in dead people ... in fact only Undying Betty is the only living person on Australian notes and it’s the $5.

Besides, we all know the First Emperor was actually a four kilogram roll of cheddar cheese and that’s why the Chinese are preventing any DNA tests.

the cheese has gone off.

Maybe he's a clay pot of kimchi and they don't want to admit to being Korean.

That makes as much sense as "they won't dig him up because he's Caucasian."  I think we should test the "Caucasian" idea against the "Kimchi" idea.  It's far more plausible.  They lose nothing with a Caucasian emperor, but the knowledge that they were ruled by a pot of cabbage for decades would collapse the economy for sure.
