Fear is one of the oldest methods of controlling the populace, and its hard to promise people a good heaven if you don't have a vicious hell to scare them with.

Really all the bible says on this is that the wages of sin is DEATH, not eternal damnation, and that, in the second judgement, sinners will  perish body AND soul  in fire.

Thus not surviving to ever go to hell (and there is no hell in the literal translations of the bible as originally written. anyway) .The words say that when we die our body goes to Gehenna or Sheol The placeof burning where bodies were burned outside of Jerusalem,  or the grave, while our souls go to sleep to await their resurrection. Revelation also says that once the new earth is established sin and sinners will BE NO MORE,  meaning they CANNOT be existing in the torment of hell  at this time, soon after judgement day. .

The "true",  and only, promise the bible offers to believers which is not available to non believers  is that of eternal life.

All things die.  That is not a punishment but a consequence,  but those who believe will have life everlasting (is the message of Christianity) .  Thus the bible (as opposed to traditional Catholicism)  doesn't threaten eternal damnation,  rather it promises eternal life for all who accept it,  rather than death (which is the lot of man, anyway)

So, it  tells us we will die because we are sinners  .....   how convenient ... for the brainwashers ;   we are going to die anyway, so they  use the inevitable conclusion by sticking a made up origin in front of it and use that as some sort of .....  proof or demonstration  / threat ?   Ridiculous !   Do people take this seriously ?

Then they offer the reward of obedience .... we will live forever ,  which no one has been able to demonstrate ever  !

It seems religion preys on the unintelligent .

The real and obvious teaching ,  not being taught in religion, but in mystery schools and to 'initiates'  is

By being born  one has invoked the inevitable conclusion of death.  The other side of the coin of life .  But that teaching doesnt really allow the teacher to control and manipulate the seeker does it ?

I don't think so. The Christian/Jewish God is derived from a Sky-god, while Rama is a underworld god. There are similarities between early Hinduism and early Judaism, and there may have been cross pollination, but that article is just fantasy.
