Still Waters Posted December 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2016 Sightings of Nessie are at their highest since the millennium, the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register has announced. Gary Campbell, keeper of the register, said it was a “fantastic” year for Nessie reports – which he put down to the growth of smartphones and webcams. Mr Campbell said for the first time, two of the seven sightings were photographed on the same day by different people at different places on the loch. And also two of the sightings were by webcam, including one from an online watcher in America. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/highlands/1105508/sightings-of-loch-ness-monster-at-highest-levels-since-2000/

Yep, those are seals alright. Not quite as ridiculous as the idiot who believed a wave was Nessie, though: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2825102/Is-Nessie-emerging-deep-Monster-s-head-pictured-surface-choppy-Loch-Ness.html Edited December 7, 2016 by Saru Swapped link due to sidebar content
Lucas Cooper Merrin Posted December 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2016 About 15 years ago i remember thinking that camara phones would bring about an avalanche of cryptid, ufo and paranormal photos and videos that would provide undisputable evidence of there existence, yet here we are nearly in 2017 with almost everybody in the civilised world having smart phones and all we get is the odd shady video or blatant hoaxes!

ChrLzs Posted December 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2016 And the number of tourists who have realised that their camera phones suck and bring along decent digital cameras (eg DSLR or hybrid long zooms) has increased. I see a LOT more people in touristy locations carrying decent cameras than I used to in the 60's and 70's (yes, I'm that old), so why isn't there at least one decent high resolution image? I'll tell you. All of these inane fuzzy low-res reports are from people filming stuff that is so far away their crappo cameras just record an unresolved blob. All the people situated much closer and with good cameras, don't bother photographing 'nessie' as they can see it's a log/seal/wave/whatever....
toast Posted December 9, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2016 More visitors to Loch Ness, more "sightings" Quote THE Loch Ness monster is to be at the centre of a £2 million tourism campaign to bring more visitors to the north of Scotland. More than 200,000 overseas tourists travel to Loch Ness every year but tourism leaders want to see numbers grow by 50,000 over the next 12 months. An increase in numbers could be worth £3.5m to the area each year, VisitBritain said. The campaign will see extensive advertising, digital marketing and business activity featuring Nessie until 2019. American tourists remain the largest overseas visiting group to Scotland, with more than 500,000 spending time in the country in the first nine months of last year. Inverness MP and Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander said: “I’m delighted to provide £2m for a four-year campaign to promote one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. link
