So?  Misinformation sites are all over the internet.  There is a huge business of it.  For all I know you are part of the same network.

The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Independant, The NY Times, IB Times ect. are all Western mainstream media. Obviously you didn't even bother looking at the links. Not surprising at all. Like I said, no amount of evidence will make you change your mind. Anything that contradict your narrative of ''freedom fighters against an evil, tyrannical regime'' is going to be ignored and ultimately rejected.

im syrian and i agree with TruthSeeker_, the people who are fighting Assad now are al-qaeda type,

al-nusra front, which is al-qaeda branch in syria, or isis which is a defected branch of al-qaeda who thought that al-qaeda are not doing enough

the other groups are also a salafi jihadists, who are intermingled with the same people, and more of a traitors by changing there allegiance to erdogan in order to receive support, and they ended up helping erdogan fighting their Syrian Kurdish brothers

Kurds became brothers before Assad forces pounded them, or after?

isis should be wiped out entirely. ANY imam who promotes ANYTHING in line with these radical groups should be picked up and never seen in public ever again. We should investigate how much money is invested by Saudi, gulf states into the promotion of wahabism and the building of mosques world wide and effectively target their efforts.

Totally agree!  Target the money backers and cause them pain while literally obliterating this evil from the earth.  Don't allow the shouts of condemnation from western media to delay or deter the action necessary to END this scourge.  If the Saudis and Iranians want to clash that badly, let them send their own troops into a war between just the two of them.  They can use Yemen as the school yard for the fight.

The Saudi's are in dire need to diversify their investments. Oil is drying out and there really isn't much else for them to provide. They spread a myth to their people claiming after this oil is gone Allah has filled mountains of gold for them for being God's people. It is literally a fascist dictator ship under the guise of theocracy. This seems to be a perfect time to invest in sustainable energy become independent by  pursuing our own oil resources and making sure to do it as efficiently and safely as possible. Note we also have globalist enemies within. These enemies are more dangerous as they are not as forthcoming as the Saudis, etc

Curiously, no mainstream media is reporting this story.

Almasdarnews is a news aggretator in the UAE; it is not clear where it got this story from. RTBH is a Russian news organisation owned by the Russian government, and (at time of posting) the only other news outlet fielding this story is RT.

Is this actually happening, or is it Russian propaganda ?

Western mainstream media have no source within the Syrian military and no journalist on the ground.

How can you expect them to report everything about the Syrian Army?

And yet curiously, three days later, no confirmation.

Clearly you have to look outside the MSM to get reliable, up-to-date facts on Syrian Army advances.

Because according to this source, and Iranian newsites ( which in all likelyhood have inside information within the Syrian governement and military) the army keeps advancing inches by inches in the Western region of Palmyra.

''BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:10 P.M) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) once again advanced in the western countryside of Palmyra (Tadmur) this week, liberating another site from the Islamic State (ISIS) militants at the outskirts of this ancient desert city.

Led by the 5th Legion and 18th Tank Division, the Syrian Arab Army liberated the Palmyra Communication Tower in the Eastern Bayarat area after a short battle with the retreating Islamic State forces.''

......

Well, it's certainly true that the "MSM" is not reporting the situation in Homs and Palmyra. And - as you pointed out earlier - they don't have any journalists on the ground. (The Syrian army would shoot them as spies, and ISIS would behead them as Kufir, set fire to them, and THEN shoot them as spies. Not necessarily in that order  :P).

However, the total silence in the MSM about the claims of the Syrian Army is curious. I would at least expect them to report the story "based on reports from Almasdar News". For all of them to remain silent suggests that they have misgivings about the credibility of these stories ?

Syrian government forces take Palmyra citadel from Islamic State - Hezbollah

Russian-backed Syrian government forces and their allies recaptured the historic Palmyra citadel, on the city's western outskirts, from Islamic State fighters on Wednesday, a military media unit run by Hezbollah said.

The Syrian army also seized a modern palatial complex to the southwest, it said, in advances that brought it closer to storming the city and driving back the jihadists.

Islamic State has captured Palmyra, whose ancient ruins are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, twice during Syria's six-year-old conflict.

Good news.

From Mosul good news as well:

Iraqi army controls main roads out of Mosul, trapping Islamic State

U.S.-backed Iraqi army units on Wednesday took control of the last major road out of western Mosul that had been in Islamic State's hands, trapping the militants in a shrinking area within the city, a general and residents said.

The army's 9th Armored Division was within a kilometer of Mosul's Syria Gate, the city's northwestern entrance, a general from the unit told Reuters by telephone.

"We effectively control the road, it is in our sight," he said.

It was only a matter of time before pro-governement forces reenter Palmyra. They needed more troops and Russian airpower.

Good job!

Finally, Syrians recaptured Palmyra. I hope Syrians won't make same mistakes like they did in December...

With this victory, a march towards Raqqa is no longer out of the question.
