Despite not being a great fan of Donald  - I do find (his wife) Melania to be very graceful. She held herself beautifully during the inauguration - and of course she again looked lovely.

Speaking of lovely - apparently the Oval office has already started to adorn itself in some gold decor. I'm not surprised with this chosen colour - as Iv'e seen many pictures of the gold furnishings and trimmings in Trump Tower.

Trump has been President of the United States for roughly eight hours and he's already doing important presidential things—like redecorating his Oval Office. As Trump sat at the Resolute desk to sign his first executive order (about Obamacare—surprise, surprise), America noticed a very Trump-y change to the Oval Office's decor: gold curtains.

What worries me is not that Trump seems childish and egotistical, but that he comes across as mean and vindictive.

They can't all be saints like Hillary. There's not a vindictive hair on her head, is there Frank?

Now I know you're both smarter than that. Some people might not have come for those reasons but over 1.5 million? No.

Quite possibly it could be the simple reality that about 3 million fewer people voted for Trump than voted for Obama in 2008.

Would Obama have won if he was White? Be honest.

White working class America.

Oh, please. I know that weak leftists despise that group, but Trump cares about *all* Americans. Just ask Jim Brown and Martin Luther King III. I reject the left's anti-majority contempt as much as I reject anti-minority disdain.

Ok, your opinion, for me, way to much religion, that is my opinion. Religion should have no part in it.

Why? It's our heritage, and we should keep it. It's customary and traditional. It doesn't hurt anybody.

I'm a democrat.  I have been around the world, spent 4 years at war, have a great job, receive no government assistance, and support my family wonderfully.  But all you can do is generalize, right?  Well, you are from southern Alabama, so I am going to assume that you went to a crappy school, have no college education, work a job that put's you below the middle class, talk too slow to understand, and still believe in segregation.  See how that works?

Yeah, I see how that works. It's a way to insult him in the guise of a sermon.

I have no idea. And neither does anyone else.

Not sure what that has to do with Trump's inauguration though...

I'll say government shouldn't care exclusively about one race of people or another.  That includes BLM's pandering and government's response if we're going to be consistent.  This kind of collectivist mentality is at the heart of all forms of bigotry.

Corporate interest however is an inseparable part of a free market.   Government control over corporate interest (allegedly for the "Worker") is a slave market, and referencing other posts above, yes it does smack of Bernie Sanders even when it's delivered in a speech by Donald Trump.  The death of capitalism is now as red as it was blue.   I could say it proves once again there's no difference between left and right, but nobody believes that anymore.  Now it's like all that matters.

If we're in a new age of state control where the government is expected to give everyone what they deserve?   No wonder the budget deficits are over $900 Billion/year on average for the next 10 years.   That's a lot of government.  Aside from Rand Paul and a precious few others, there's nary a real fiscal conservative alive among them.

I was just pointing out that when someone uses the term white, or black, or whatever, chances are you are about to hear some racists ****.

BTW there is nothing wrong with government making a business friendly environment. Especially if you are about free markets.

Para - surely most folk know that this woman was / is also no saint.

But she didn't become your president...so you can now breath a sigh of relief.

I personally didn't care for either of them.....but besides that....I really hope that Trump does come through for your country by doing the right thing.

But to be fair - I can also understand why there are many, many people (not only in your own country) but also other nations from around the world that feel rather fearful and uncertain about the man.

His inauguration speech was strong and impressive...but I also picked up a certain hostility in parts of it.

Good for you and continue to be seen as nutters by everyone else in your office.  It doesn't sound like a good working environment for you, and it sounds you are making it worse, which would go along with the nutters theme you set.

Time will tell if Trump turns out the disaster he appears, and/or if the American system can prevent disaster.  Maybe all is as planned, or maybe a mule has entered politics (Asimov reference intended).  And, then, maybe the plan is for Trump to have his four years, his type of politics to be completely discredited, and the Republican party to disappear.

Man you guys just wont get it. The days of shaming your political opponents into a corner where they cant be seen or heard is OVER Frank. We don't care if you don't like our views, we will not be silenced anymore. Dehumanizing people only brings strong resistance, especially in this country.

I guess its good you guys still cant understand just how responsible you are for the situation you find yourselves in. Just as responsible as those who voted for him.

Last April the Anti-Defamation League asked Trump not to use the phrase "America First".

Quote

New York, NY, April 28, 2016 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today urged presidential candidate Donald Trump to reconsider his use of the phrase “America First” as a slogan describing his approach to foreign affairs, citing its anti-Semitic use in the months before Pearl Harbor by a group of prominent Americans seeking to keep the nation out of World War II.

The most noteworthy leader of the “America First Committee” was Charles Lindbergh, who sympathized with the Nazis and whose rhetoric was characterized by anti-Semitism and offensive stereotypes, including assertions that Jews posed a threat to the U.S. because of their influence in motion pictures, radio, the press, and the government.

http://www.adl.org/press-center/press-releases/anti-semitism-usa/adl-urges-donald-trump-to-reconsider-america-first.html?

Well he kept using it including during the inauguration.

David Duke whose website dukeforsenate features the slogan has also tweeted, "Trump Inauguration Speech Declares War on the Neocons & Promotes Our Slogan "America First!"

It is doubtful Trump cares or Netanyahu either for that matter. Although if push comes to shove they would likely disavow Duke.

It is not surprising that others found anti-Semitism within Trump's speech.

Time will tell where his heart is. Each can make up their own mind now or later.

Then they're lying about their claim that the listened to or actually read the speech.  ANYONE claiming those kinds of things about Trump's are lying.

It's the same thing they've done for the past decade or so, and it's one of the reasons why Trump was inaugurated yesterday.  They simply refuse to see their own shortcomings, and refuse to learn their lessons from defeat.  I don't get why an entire political movement bases their agenda off blatantly lying to the citizens of the US.  And yes, that is a generalization, but yes, that is an accurate one--I'm not talking about specific people, just the US progressive left as a socially-demented political movement.  Just look at some of the anti-Trump posters here: blatantly lying one post after another and knowingly doing it.  Trump has his problems, yet none want to focus on the real ones and instead are quite pleased to troll us with made-up ones.  WTF is wrong with people these days, why do they think being complete liars is the cool thing to do?

Donald Trump does not control the delusional thinking of the KKK. There were even members of the Klan who supported Hillary Clinton. Also, (in case you missed it) Ivanka Trump's husband is Jewish for goodness sakes. This type of slamming is utterly ridiculous. If you don't like Trump that's fine, but taking things into utterly irrational territory just makes you look bad.

Also, as for the 'mean and vindictive' behavior that Trump is supposed engaged in: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/hillary-clinton-arrives-capitol-donald-trumps-inauguration/story?id=44920947

Yeah, that's right, President Trump was very gracious toward the Clintons.

Again, facts like those are willfully ignored by the left.  They'd prefer to make up their own lies and run with them.  I just don't get why they keep doing it when they're so obviously wrong.

there is something weird going on world wide about protesting about Trump....

demonstrations all over the world and here's a president who is saying  that they do not aim to
continue the foreign intervention type politics of the Obama administration and wants to concentrate
more on home affairs -

and the other option was a candidate that looked like they were going to have a war with Russia that
could have put the whole world in turmoil -

what's wrong with these people - where's the logic ? - are they disappointed that the US is going to have a
different foreign policy .... did they prefer a serious conflict with Russia that could have devastated the West
and wider world..?....

Whether they like or dislike Trump as a man is irrelevant -

It's frustrating and confusing that people worldwide can be so narrow-minded, so filled with hatred and rage over a blatant lies--know the lies are lies and yet keep hating.  It's like they want to hate just for the sake of hating.

To everyone: How is New Zealand taking this, because my wife and I were planning on vacationing there in a couple of years.  But if the same irrational hatred has infected that country, we might just skip it.

Here is an article for those interested in why some parts of the world are leery with a Trump presidency. It is not that confusing either. Keep in mind the multipolar world is so much bigger than the US and Russia now.
