The difference between motivation and justification yes.

Don't know who you were bombing yet but you LOST too, just like we LOST every other war that Americans have fought in the Modern era.

There is a difference between losing and walking away due to lack of interest... and if you ask me, the later thing is even worse.

And we lost Desert Storm? Grenada, Panama, Dominica, the COLD WAR?

Better check the facts before you get too celebratory there. And Vietnam wasn't a defeat for the US, we had already left it to the ARVN two years prior to that. North Korea was a draw, but the Communists celebrate their double failure to conquer South Korea as if it was some sort of victory for them. It wasn't, but Communists are the biggest losers in history so I guess they have to make things like that up as they go.

What kind of aircraft were you in btw?  Curious...

I wasn't, figure of speech. Mine was a Bradley CFV, I was a Scout. Still a nice way to do a lot of damage.

We've been bombing Muslims for 25 years, if they were bombing you for 25 years, would you keep trying?   Would avoiding the problem be surrendering to them, giving up, submitting to your enemy, turning pacifist?  Just anti-war hippie like me, maybe?

Since Saddam invaded Kuwait, you mean.

One of the two nations in that whole Gulf region that was on our side for the entire Cold War (the other was Saudi Arabia. which explains a few things) and the fact that the Saudis turned to us instead of Osama's misfits to liberate Kuwait was the real start of all this Al Queda nonsense. Clinton spent 8 years flinging Cruise missiles at aspirin factories and the like, botching Somalia and throwing bombing raids to divert attention from his scandals. It was just ridiculous and diverted attention from the fact that the US went to war 3 times in the 1990s to defend Muslims (Kuwait, Bosnia, Somalia) and somehow we still ended up being the bad guys.

And we didn't just bomb them, we tried to build them back up, like we did for Germany and Japan after WW2. Didn't work so well, but at least we tried. You build a water or an electricity plant, and guess what? Overnight, the place is looted, even the nuts and bolts are gone, sold on the black market for a fraction of what it was all worth. Afghanistan has a tremendous deposit of Lithium... and nobody is interested in mining it because they know they would only be shot at and sabotaged no matter how much wealth it brought to that place.

We don't call it Trashcanistan for nothing.

Thanks for reminding me of all that... yeah, that really brings it all back.

And you know what? I wouldn't be one of the fools that allowed the Fundamentalists to lead me around by the nose in the first place. So NO, I wouldn't still be trying to kill anyone but the Medieval swine that were keeping my country in the Dark Ages.

Good enough?

So was 9/11 since it motivates neocons to drive the country to bankruptcy.

How'd you guess?   Certainly not since Saddam invaded Iran.

And we lost Desert Storm?

Not until we invaded Iraq again.   But if we're okay with failed states and puppet governments then we should skip the nation building.

Grenada and Panama were wars?   The Cold War?   We didn't win the Cold War, our capitalism is just lasting longer than their communism.   Better check your finances before you get too celebratory there.

We're not going to win at anything anymore, and it's me saying it now, not Donald Trump.

The rest of the world has started to expect us to cut and run now.

Hey, the Dems are willing to look at the Debt Clock again, after 8 long years!

Wanna guess who it was that doubled it?

Well.... that's kinda hideous, rooting for your own demise.

Honestly, why give up before it's over?

Optimism is better for the ol' ticker, in more ways than one.

No, the debt is hideous.   Because you're not a conservative you have to be told this.   I'm not rooting for anything.  I'm not a democrat, gross.

You're no conservative so maybe you're a Democrat?

Show me where in the Constitution the people swinging in the breeze are and why you feel they have an entitlement complex for spending your money, thanks!

Your ignorance manifests itself again because of your partisanship.  The test in a country of excessive debt is the inflation rate and the level of interest rates.  The nominal number is not important.

I have the feeling Trump is going to increase the debt quite a bit.  He will end up spending even more on medical care, waste billions on his wall, make the defense contractors all much wealthier, and then he says he will cut taxes.

Keep killing hundreds of thousands of Americans with modern health care, sure.   I thought maybe he had more common sense than Hillary Clinton by some of the stuff he said in the campaign, but that no longer looks to be the case.

I'm not in an approved political party either -- I'm not even an American (although once I almost became one, and I spent much of my career as an academic in N. American Studies).  Were I an American I would be a Regan type Republican, who is not afraid of moderate debt so long as it keeps the economy growing (I think he originally learned that lesson from Alexander Hamilton).  (Regan also, to his credit, gave the religious right lip service but not what they wanted).

Trump is not a real Republican -- in fact in the past if I have it right he was a Democrat.  He is certainly not a Christian either, as he has not been to church since he was elected.  He is a hypocrite, a con-man and a liar.  The religious right knows this, but hopes they can get control of the Supreme Court (and Trump is stupid enough to give it to them), so they are being hypocrites too.

All that doesn't much matter if he runs the country reasonably well -- Nixon was a crook too but he did govern fairly well while he was in office.  For a while, I thought Trump might, if he had good advisers, but what I see are promises to spend more money (especially wasting it on military spending that is not needed) and cut taxes for the wealthy and stifle trade and thereby run up huge deficits -- much more than Reagan would ever have imagined -- and I think Trump is just simply too stupid and uninformed to see what the effects will be.

Regarding Obamacare, it is fairly plain that the Republicans will not be able to repeal it, so it will stay, with maybe a few slight nudges here and there if the Democrats go along.  It is better than nothing I suppose, and better than the Republican proposal as we see it now.

I don't have a clue what America might do to get itself out of its health care mess.  Things are double and triple the cost of elsewhere, the lawyers have a real cash cow going suing doctors and hospitals, the insurance companies don't care as they just pass the costs on to premium payers and the government, and the poor end up in emergency rooms, the worst possible place for them to be and the one place where the taxpayer really gets socked.

The Democrats made it all worse by thinking insurance (which tends to remove competition from the pricing) was the solution, so they put their elaborate and unmanageable system into place.  Now the Republicans think they can just repeal it -- this after costs have gone through the roof and millions would be left with no insurance and no other resources other than praying they stay healthy.

This is the time for a "czar" to come in and start afresh, with price controls, litigation limits, what-have-you -- but the American system would never allow that -- and so it will just fester and fester and get worse and worse.  The country is in decline -- its infrastructure, its educational systems, even its manufacturing and agriculture and military mentality and police and law enforcement all show this.  The only real solution I see for it is a Constitutional Convention and a fresh start, but politically that would not be possible.

Without the US, countries like China and Russia take over (unless Europe can get its act in gear, which seems unlikely).  It looks like the world may be in for a dismal time.

There are things in the Q'uran that are scary -- about killing the infidel and so on, but then there are very similar things in the Bible.

Re:Bolded.

Why isn't the MSM headlining them?

THAT should maybe be the question.

You ARE correct in that plenty of "non-immigrant citizens" commit even worse atrocities. The Columbine High massacre, or the Batman movie theatre shooting, etc come to mind.

BUT, they were of course splashed all over of the MSM weren't they.

I haven't looked into the links Sweetpumper provided, but if the stories are true... then how come they aren't equally splashed all over the MSM?

That would be the real question to me :tu:

My suspicion is that MSM hasn't "headlined" these because they are fake news -- they didn't really happen.  The main reason I suspect this is that the stories haven't to my knowledge appeared in any reputable news sources.  The thing is, even if they did, the way they are posted is obviously designed to stir hate, not provide information.

Huh?

It is only March, just two months, and the Left is doing everything they can short of all-out warfare in the streets to stop every single thing Trump has tried to do.

The whole tax-code, the Federal Budget of the largest economy on Earth (when IS China going to pass us, anyway? They only have about 4 times as many people!) and the Helath care situation (you ARE right, Insurance is not the same thing as Health Care) and the debt and.... I dunno, is there anything else he has supposed to have solved and moved past in two months?

I know it seems like its been decades since the Election if you watch the TV.... every day they assault Trump and his family and everyone else associated with him many times per hour.

Maybe its just time to take a break for a few weeks?

Well let's have a look... and I'll stand corrected(to a degree anyways) as here's some MSM news about the first story, the rape of the 14 year old girl in Maryland. So while not "splashed" all over the MSM as I stated, here's a couple of "MSM" sources that do talk about the story...

- "The rape of a 14-year-old girl inside a Maryland high school, allegedly by at least one much older illegal immigrant, is stoking anger but having little effect on local politicians committed to so-called "sanctuary" policies."

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/03/22/parents-emotions-raw-in-wake-rape-at-maryland-high-school.html

- "Matthew Bourke, a spokesman for ICE, said Sanchez-Milian, a citizen of Guatemala, was stopped by a border patrol agent in Rio Grande Valley, Texas, in August 2016. Bourke said Sanchez-Milian was detained for 12 days before being placed with the Office of Refugee Resettlement, which reunited him with his family in Maryland."

- "Sanchez-Milian's attorney told CNN his client was held for four weeks by ICE and was put on a Baltimore-bound flight by ICE officers to reunite him with his father, who has lived in the United States for 14 years."

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/21/us/maryland-undocumented-student-rape/index.html

I could find nothing in the "MSM" on the second story, which shouldn't be too surprising considering it allegedly took place in an "asylum camp in Tjörn". Not a school in Maryland.

Here's another article on it, but it's sources are Breitbart and the Christian Post(a sometimes rather outrageous publication I will admit).

It's been long enough to persuade me about what Trump is, although just the campaign did that.  I see he is "declaring victory" on Obamacare and will break his promise to repeal it (because he can't) and will "go on with the rest of his agenda." What agenda is that?  Lower taxes for the wealthy -- that is not going to happen.  Greatly increase the military budget?  Almost certainly not when it only take one Republican defection in the Senate.  Build the wall?  Maybe a few miles but he could never get the 20 to 50 billion dollars really needed to do it right.  Block Muslim immigration (it doesn't seem he has read the First Amendment to the Constitution -- I cannot imagine the courts ever allowing such a travesty.

In other words, he will get no cooperation from Democrats -- his lies about them has them hopping mad and naturally uncooperative, and his own party is riddled with radicals who will not cooperate either.  He will achieve nothing, and it is his own fault -- more and more people see him for what he is and he hasn't the humility to accept good advice.

Yes. Maybe not completely fake (fake news rarely is -- it is based on things exaggerated and leaving out pertinent details).  The main point, which you ignored, is that non-immigrants do these things and don't get the headlines.

Are you sure you like Reagan?

The Left said all of the same things about him, and just pointlessly, in the 1980s. I know, I was there.

And if a Repub lowers taxes one quarter as much as on the poor and middle class, the Press won't mention those other two, it can only be reported as being for the Damned Kulaks.... erm, excuse me, the 'Wealthy', how as we all know must be killed so we can take all their stuff.... unless they are Democrats, And most of them are, you know. from Warren Buffet to Bill Gates to that schmuck that "invented" Facebook.

And btw- I never heard Trump calling for the Tax Break for the Rich. What I have heard him say is that we need to lower the taxes on Corporations so that they bring their money back to the US. Ours is the highest in the world; 35%.

How high is it in Cambodia today? Any mega-corps with their HQ there? If so, I think we might have a case for bias there...

New lies have been invented about Trump every day for a year plus now, haven't any of them been shot down on this forum?

There is nothing wrong about lowering marginal rates, even though it tends to help the wealthy the most, because it also has the effect of generating economic growth and prosperity and makes economic decisions that are economically sound happen rather than decisions based on tax considerations.  If you want to help the poor via the tax law, do something about the SS tax as it is far more regressive and poor working people get hit by it much worse than ordinary income taxes.

I don't know about lies about Trump being shot down.  That is I think your fantasy.

We will have to see the details about what Trump proposes before it can be deemed as wise of what Reagan did.
