So, I take it people are angry that  Kellyanne had  reminded people about the 2 Iraqi men that we know of who made it into the U.S.A who's fingerprints were discovered on an IED back in their homeland.

At this point, it would appear Ella is enjoying some attention, I'm not sure there's much point in engaging her.

Suffice it to say, if you are either on the Left or the Right, and you *don't* denounce sloppy fact reporting or outright lying, you're part of the problem.  Unfortunately America is dividing itself based on the rhetoric of their extreme fringes, vs. using a common sense approach to unifying their country, which involves ignoring, or at the very minimum putting into perspective, their fringes, and focusing on methodologies that will lead to bridging the current gap.  Until America is ready to do that, you're going to be stuck with what you've got.

No, I don't find it entertaining when the left are lying about a nation's need to secure itself.

I'm sure Twitter is still laughing.

Of course Kellyanne has conveniently forgotten how she and others crucified the reporter who mistakenly reported that a bust of Martin Luther King was removed from the Oval Office  — regardless of the fact that the reporter quickly issued a correction, as well as several tweets taking responsibility for his mistake. He also apologized in person. But that wasn't enough for them apparently. Even Trump was still going on about it 12 days later citing it as "fake news" and saying it was "a disgrace.

Kellyanne needs to stop being such a cry baby and move on.

You know damn well that reporter knew this would be HUGE. You would think he would have double and triple checked to see if the bust was removed. You seem like a very intelligent woman, he knew what he was doing. The implication of it is what they wanted.

I'm sort of with you on this one...though wouldn't it be nice if debate could take place without having to go directly red faced confrontational?  I would agree, though, an equal burden of accurately reporting the facts should be placed on both the Left and the Right media.  One side cannot throw stones at the other without having their house in order.

Question for you, though...for you, is it more concerning when the lies / mistruths / alternative facts / whatever we're calling it today come from government or from the media?  Or is it equally as bad, regardless of the source?

Intelligent enough not to pretend to know what the reporter was thinking. I agree though that he should not have reported unconfirmed information, but to his credit, he sent out a correction just minutes later, followed up by more tweets and several apologies. Whilst Kellyanne did not apologize for her Bowling Green statement (at least that I'm aware of) she did own up to the error. So we can waste time second guessing the both of them, or we can move on.

Nope, that was for you.  :)  Ella has gone beyond what's worth debating...but I think you have a point...just wanting to clarify it a bit, as it would be strange to me if lying on the part of the reporter somehow excused the lying (we can replace lying with mis-speaking, if that's less confrontational) on the part of Conway.  In my opinion, both were wrong.  What do you think?

You know when Obama put a ban on them, no one rioted, it's pretty clear.  But, under the Obama admin.  had still allowed people to get in that  shouldn't of gotten in our country. President Trump is just more wiser & more Patriotic as opposed to Obama so it's expected that President Trump will be more thorough in securing America's borders and keeping us safe.

More.... wiser....

More.... wiser....

Ok then...

What's going on here is something very very wrong.  The administration is trying to make the American people believe that they are the only accurate source of information.  We see this in so many other countries with their state run media.  I don't know what their overall intentions are, but they can't be good.  I also don't think all of this is coming from Trump.  We know he just wants to be liked, and I'm still not convinced he actually wanted to win.  I think he has some very evil people surrounding him, stroking his ego, and therefore, he is allowing them to push their agenda.  Statements that aren't accurate, the bending of the truth, and lies are coming out everyday, and as long as they are not made to be held accountable, it will keep occurring.

You're just in denial  & you know President Trump is all about winning. He won't stop until things are the way  they were intended to be for America.

Oh I agree that every administration lies.  This just feels different.  The constant lying, and fighting, and demeaning people on Twitter trying to attack their credibility.  To hold their first press conference and bring out pictures of the inauguration crowd.  Like I said, it seems they are attempting to paint themselves as the only place to get accurate information, while all they give are inaccurate statements.  I mean to say on Friday that the media doesn't report on terrorist attacks, and to provide a list yesterday with the truck attack in France, and the Pulse Nightclub shooting on that list is laughable.  Actually, it would be laughable if it wasn't scary.

This, specifically the part about the buck stops with you...or us.  I think that every administration requires vigilance and scrutiny, with a higher level of responsibility placed square on the shoulders of those that gave them the power.  Unfortunately, the opposite is happening, and it's normalizing methodologies that are utterly toxic.  It seems now that that scrutiny is treasonous, and an admission of personal failure if one supports a shady political side (tricky, because they are all shady), so rather than appear weak or wrong, excuses are made for the most ludicrous of fantasies and the most atrocious of behaviors.  No one likes mud on their face, but are people really willing to scuttle their country to save face?

Of course, the no holds barred, take no prisoners form of "discussion" that is most popular on the web isn't making anything easier, that's for sure...

yea, pretty much, but no candidate was basically attacked during campaign as trump did, none i can remember.

also i see very clear similarities between liberals today, and nazi in 30s. that alone overshadows any excuse trump administration pulls out of their behind.

i would  say the same thing of conservatives, if Hillary won, and republicans were behind riots. and zombyfing youth, "he will not divide us"

A few in the media seem to be grasping how over the top the Left has become and are cautioning them that they will destroy themselves if they don't pull back.  The campaign coverage, then the hysteria post-election has shown them to be completely sold out to destroying Trump.  My guess is that it only gets worse from here.  They are not going to back down or calm down.  I think the Left will force the nuclear option on approving Gorsuch, then say he's illegitimate.  The existence of this nation has always been due to a decision by the governed to behave according to a well-defined social contract.  Once we refuse to voluntarily accept those duties, it's over.

lol...wait, you don't think Clinton was attacked?  You must have been watching a different election...  :)

Did both of them deserve the criticism they received?  Technically, yes, though the press always shoots for the moon when they want to sell papers.  But I have to call BS that Trump is some kind of victim, and everyone else got off easy.

As for Liberals today and Nazi's in the 30's...  That would be an interesting discussion, as while the fringe's of both sides of the argument have engaged in some pretty extreme rhetoric, morally speaking it was the Republicans who dabbled in what the Nazi's were most famous for, which was isolating a specific demographic for the purposes of skape goating and creating division, while the Left fought against that ideology.

Should note, I'm not a fan of either side being compared to Nazi's, as it sensationalizes the current situation, simultaneously cheapening the historic example...

apparently i have. i did not see any media, at least not nearly as much attack hillary as they attacked trump.

you can be a fan or not, but similarities are undeniable. you do not like nazis, ok how about Bolshevikks? same tactic, similar end result, actually a lot worst with Bolsheviks than nazis

I would argue that your country was founded on a refusal to voluntarily accept the established government, and certainly the constitution was written in a way that people could, if they felt under the thumbs of tyrants, take back the power.  It's one of those things that, you know, made America great?  :)  It was always intended that the will of the people drove government, not the other way around...isn't that how you guys define Freedom?

Not trying to be snarky, merely pointing out the hypocrisy (for lack of a better, gentler term, not trying to start a brawl), in case you missed it.  One would hope that Trump would receive the overwhelming feedback and make an effort to adapt his behavior to be president for all Americans, as his mandate...unfortunately the opposite has happened, which further drives the division.  People have a right to be heard, they have a right to demonstrate, these are all things guaranteed by your constitution.  Shouldn't the president be aware of this also, and make an effort to unify the citizens under his responsibility?  Until he does, I'm not sure you can be upset at the Left for exercising their constitutional rights...

As a non-American just trying to understand....what am I missing?

I guess I could see Bolsheviks, maybe...though I'm not sure the Left in America is looking for Communism...Socialism is not the same thing.  The main complaints I hear from the Left is that they want to have a more universally inclusive, tolerant, free, safe society that looks after each other.  That might be over-simplification, that might be naïve, but to "the rest of us", that's how it appears.

On the other hand, Trump has gone out of his way to let everyone know he stands opposed to that, and not just that he's opposed to that, but that he'll flip the bird to anyone with those ideals.  Isn't he to blame for a lot of this?  Again, I'm the outsider, I fully acknowledge that, but Canadians tend to be very interested in American politics because we are directly impacted by it...so I've done a fair bit of learning when it comes to the history of the states, and I can't think of another candidate, let alone president, that has been so openly hostile to his detractors.  What am I missing?
