Popular Post Still Waters Posted February 15, 2017 Popular Post #1 Share Posted February 15, 2017 (IP: Staff) · A British folklore writer is trying to track down witnesses to the famous Wollaton Park gnomes sighting nearly 40 years ago. The extraordinary encounter, where six primary schoolchildren claimed to have seen gnomes with Noddy-style caps driving bubble cars around the park, was widely reported by the Nottingham Post and national press and has long fascinated enthusiasts of unexplained phenomena. Now writer and historian Dr Simon Young wants to conduct an in-depth study into the tale, which happened in September 1979. http://www.nottinghampost.com/did-you-see-the-wollaton-park-gnomes-nottingham-s-most-bizarre-phenomenum/story-30134603-detail/story.html 10 Top

Space Commander Travis Posted February 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2017 "the little people drove their cars at about 30-40 mph, though Patrick thought that they were going at about 120 mph". So perhaps it was fortunate that "She was passing Wollaton Park's gates when she saw some 'little men' dressed like policemen, standing just inside the lodge entrance," then. 1 Top

paperdyer Posted February 15, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 15, 2017 It's just as creepy as having some guy on a mini motor scooter running up and down the highway during rush hour. I had that happen the last time I was coming back from our manufacturing plant. On second thought, the pic is more creepy. I wonder if the little guy paid full price for his VW? 2 Top

Athena1979 Posted February 16, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 16, 2017 I think the real need is for the author to find the individuals to write his story. And for the, now adults, to say, yeah...we wanted attention.

Little people who were mostly not in contact with others like themselves finally were brought together. I remember my grandfather telling me stories about how wild some of them became partying and playing games with other people. I am with you that the gnomes were midgets playing games. 2 Top

Torviking Posted February 17, 2017 #22 Share Posted February 17, 2017 A bubble car was basically a converted Lambrette scooter with a front opening door and two seats side by side. 1 Top

DieChecker Posted February 17, 2017 #25 Share Posted February 17, 2017 (edited) Quote Their testimony told of an evening encounter with several dozen white-bearded "gnomes" who, at half their height, wore Noddy-style caps and drove around the park in tiny bubble cars. ...... "The Wollaton Park sightings badly needs a longer study," he said. "Needs" to be studied? REALLY?
