According to what I've read the ark was built by Moses to house the commandments. The ark was built from acacia wood and to be decorated accordingly as was commanded by God himself. If all the Jews knew was Egyptian then its only natural that the decorations would resemble Egyptian art.

I just saying Moses built that ark only out of wood  and the earlier  writers turned it into gold.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image" is an abbreviated form of one of the Ten Commandments which, according to the Book of Deuteronomy, were spoken by God to the Israelites and then written on stone tablets by the Finger of God.[1]

Wood is OK.  I would stay away from gunpowder though.

They needed it ... this was in the days before bass hammers , mind you .

I thought it was made outta wood and then wrapped in beaten gold leaf? The Hebrews had enough gold to make an image of a calf to worship so maybe Moses and Arron put that gold to better use. Then again maybe you're right.

Moses would not have built anything in references to the Egyptian arks, that  they were escaping .

No, I asked you why he wouldnt  ....  all you did there was to make the same staement that he would not have again .

and again , why would he not have , considering he was an Egyptian himself ?    And they were not 'escaping '  , Moses may have been , he was , after all, a murderer on the run .

Single :  Exodus 2:  11 - 13 .

and then later ;

Mass murderer ;   Exodus  32: 28 .  ( about  3000 + of his own people ) .

Indeed !  and it 'just so happens' that the description in the bible matches the description of an Egyptian  portable / processional  shrine , exactly the same purpose as the ark .

and NOWHERE  is there anything like the description of that silly drum that Docy posted .

According to the Bible Moses ordered his people not to take any gold or silver, and leave  it behind, so go figure those people really  had no gold or silver

But God said to  make it with the gold and decorations !

and Moses certainly went against his own laws .....  like killing over 3000 people and then declaring 'Thou shalt not kill . "   :D

or just go and take someone else's ... after killing them and the women and children ... under Moses' orders .

Gosh , the more we go on, the more the body count rises .

Maybe the ark was hiding the dead body of some guy Moses killed up on the mountain ?   < no one ever look in   here ... he he he  >

That seems pretty extreme for even Moses. You got a link with that?

Apparently, Moses Ordered them to ask their captors for Gold,Silver and clothing.

Exodus 12:35

“You must burn the images of their gods, but do not covet the silver and gold that covers them so much that you take it for yourself and thus become ensnared by it; for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God. 26 You must not bring any detestable thing into your house and thereby become an object of divine annihilation like it is. You must absolutely abhor and detest it, for it is an object of divine annihilation” (Deuteronomy 7:25-26).

Yes indeed !  It was well followed up in other docos ; they went to the place where it is kept , and  they showed some of the objects associated with it .

For some reason they were nothing like they were in the bible ... but exactly like the early ironwork of Ethiopians   of a few centuries back
