UM-Bot Posted March 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Quote In early 2015 I discovered UVB-76 when I stumbled upon it by accident. I was doing some research on unexplained radio broadcasts and came up with several mysterious broadcasts from unknown sources. Through the search I learned of radio station UVB-76. http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/column.php?id=305537
Space Commander Travis Posted March 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Quote The names and numbers broadcast by the monotone voices are likely meant for military orders in code or contact with government agents outside of Russia - By jiminy, he's got it! This is how they send their instructions to Tr*mp!
Gumball Posted March 22, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2017 Numbers stations. My favorite. The Conet Project is good for beginners.
Occams Razor Posted October 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 3, 2017 The common belief is it's a global HF comms system for the Russian military. If the **** hits the fan and all the satellites are out of commission HF radio will give you global comms. The open mike is really clever, if they suddenly need to use it they know it works from the mike to the antenna. And the continuous signal keeps the frequency occupied. They won't have to find a mike or any other spares if they run in there and find it doesn't work. They also use it for coded messages to their assets around the world. The British had something similar called The Lincolnshire Poacher: but it closed down a few years ago.
