Is North Korea really a problem?

Just now, and then said:

That link was about combat air power coordination.  Do you have a link for the evacuation drills, please?  I haven't seen any mention of it. If they are indeed working on such plans, actively, then this is potentially more troubling.

You know I think I might stand corrected. I could have sworn I read that S. Korea that had practiced in Jan and Feb but apparently I was wrong. Japan has though maybe thats where I got caught up

Japan conducts evacuation drill for North Korea missiles even this though only included around 100 people so its a little less exciting than the headline

Apparently the plan is to practice S. Korea in June:

The Evacuation of Americans From South Korea Is Going to Be Rehearsed in June

More troubling? Sensible contingency planning, surely, and probably something that they'd had as a contingency plan for a long time.

Hence the term "actively" as in, added emphasis or urgency.  All I've seen is new US preparations for getting US dependents out of the country if a war begins and those drills aren't for at least another month.  But I suspect you are correct about the SK plans being well rehearsed long before now.

The Japanese themselves are loathe to rebuild their military, no one is holding them back. As for Korea, their capabilities down the road is what concerns me. Better to put an end to this frozen conflict now, than later, when their ballistic missile subs may be lurking off our coasts.

Lurking?

Hold me.

it is simple if you have a kid swinging a bat at people, even if he isn't trying to hit anyone you have to take the bat away from them.  the only way to stop a bully is to confront him.

Depends though. If the kid is in the street, with other kids, then yes you have to take the bat away. If he's alone in his own back yard, beating on a old oak tree... You leave him alone. Some view North Korea as acting within their own back yard, while others imagine NK trying to start a fight.

They're not at all loathe to rebuild their military, they've already got one of the strongest in Asia and they're expanding still further.

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force

Japan Air Self-Defense Force

Japan Ground Self-Defense Force

Yes, they've made strides in recent years, but are still hindered by their postwar constitution and domestic opposition. I do think they've made preparations to do a lot more should the need arise.

You remind me of an old friend who always left his car unlocked and the keys in the ignition. He'd just laugh at friends who admonished him to take better care. Why bother, he thought. The bad thing could never happen to him. Then, one night he called me from Watson's in a panic, needing a ride home. His car was missing from the parking lot. Two teenagers took it out and wrapped it around a tree. He had no insurance. So, forgive me if I'm a bit nonplussed by your apparent nonchalance.

Give them twenty years to build some, unless of course they buy some from Putin, who is of course secretly assisting them.

I think the North Koreans are going to quietly go away.

Of course he still needs to be kept under a watchful eye...but you are probably right.

He got the worlds attention that he so often wants and craves, and he has proven yet again that his rockets barley get to leave North Korea after launch. Apparently after the last dismal failure ..Kim actually suffered stage fright when his latest missile test exploded.

What's scary is that technology continues to make this sort of warfare easier and easier, and at some point it will be to the point you can build these things with Legologs.  Of course by then anti-missile technology will also have advanced.

You know why every missile flight is a failure?

Because after every failure he probably has a bunch of engineers and technicians put to death. He's running out of talent.....

No idea why I remind you of your friend.  You're having it both ways.  You go from "Hold me" to paranoid make believe about submarines.    I don't talk out of both ends depending on what minute of the hour it is.  I'm actually not afraid of North Korea.  Americans actually scared of North Korea?  LOL that is so ridiculous I don't know where to start.   Perhaps a psychiatrist has a pill for that.

I'm just not feeling the ''''''oh my god this could be WW3'''''' feeling -

Perhaps Trump is cleverly giving the Military something to do - letting them play with their Big Boy Toys -

A kind of Testosterone Fest ... lifting the lid off a bit to release the pressure ..?... :w00t:

just a though to share -

Missiles are very phallic aren't they ...

Agreed Americans are not afraid of Nth Korea, but they are dangerous to other nations so they need to be controlled, will China do this or are the Chinese just hanging back to see how far N.K will act ,and what response America will make.and how far POTUS will go.The problem is that if N.K do develop a good launch system, are they bluffing or will they loose off a missile at an American base, because if they do their country will become a radiated dessert, and then I guess that China would react Maybe ?.not forgetting that the radiation has no borders..

I have heard that insurance doesn't pay if you left the key in ignition.

I watched this last night and seriously, the people in North Korea need help -

I've got a good idea - instead of bombs why don't the US and allies fire in loads and loads and loads of food parcels
and useful and nice things for the civilians there ... that would be cheaper than the regular missiles and it would
probably have the same effect in the long run --- ie to shift the country more in our direction - like in South Korea -

in the documentary they were very sensitive to any photos or film being taken that showed the poverty -

think how happy it would make the civilians if they were showered with stuff that they need -

I think I just realized why you girls like missiles so much.   Unfortunately my phallus looks like it's wearing a Nazi helmet.  It has a strong desire to conquer Russian girls but keeps failing to.

Disagree with that actually.  Americans will be afraid of whoever they're told to.  They'll be angry at whoever they're told to.  They have a political need to be angry at somebody and need someone to guide their anger.   And they'll promptly stop being angry the moment they're told not to anymore.   It's as quick as flipping a switch.   China is the most recent example.  Trump just said China's okay now.   All the fake China rage is dead, instantaneously.   Followers need leaders, whether Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton or Alex Jones.    I'm a rare bird to not be afraid of North Korea.  Most Americans are, because they believe what they're told to.  The entire media in this country is in the pockets of lobbyists.and our people faithfully accept what they hear without question.  If and when the media wants Americans to fear N Korea more it will accomplish that within hours not days.

Again, depends. If they are in their back yard swinging and yelling, they're no threat. Once they step out and are actually confronting people (Which NK is basically doing by dropping missiles into the Sea of Japan.) that is another story.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment, but pointing out that not everyone is going to agree with you, just because you think you are making good sense.

I'll give you the same answer that I gave Farmer a couple pages back:

"Ok, who has Trump murdered? Is Trump part of an evil dynasty that never required him to be elected? Does Trump have absolute power to do anything he pleases? Does Trump function in a reality where he is revered as a god with absolute power? Does everyone else in the government bow down to the whims of Trump? Does Trump operate without benefit of a Constitution? "

IMO Trump is certainly narcissistic, but KJU is a straight up psychopath who doesn't care who (or how many) he has to murder to hold onto his power. Lil' Kim even had his own brother assassinated in order to be the only genetic option that China could back.
