Space Commander Travis Posted May 3, 2017 #678 Share Posted May 3, 2017 (edited) yet again we're wandering off on a sidetrack then. It was a message to Uncle Joe Stalin, simple as that. There was no real military or political need to use it, since Japan was all but ready to surrender, whether Hirohito stayed or not - and even if they weren't, they wouldn't have been able to carry on much longer, since they were virtually starved of oil, and once that had happened, it would no longer have been a military threat, however fanatical the press may have presented them to be, so they could have just been blockaded and isolated until social upheaval probably prompted a revolution from within. Now can we get back to Korea? Edited May 3, 2017 by Manfred von Dreidecker

The Clintons and Trumps and Bushes have never offered the idea that nuclear war isn't winnable. Every time they parrot that tired old American classic "all options are on the table" mantra, they say otherwise. No need to go towards that, we're already there. Even worse is any smack of using nukes tactically as battlefield weapons. It is all posturing and no diplomacy at this point, and no cake either. And I'm sorry to whoever I offend by saying this, but saying you'd be "honored" and that not going anywhere? That's some real sucky diplomacy right there. Space Commander Travis Posted May 3, 2017 #684 Share Posted May 3, 2017 Come on Yam, bluster like "bomber flights push penisula to brink of nuclear war" is just the kind of thing from the Ministries of Propaganda of any country anywhere. Of course it's posturing, that's what it's always about. Of course what the Donald is saying is "this is our big stick, but I've also got some beautiful cake here, which do you think it would be more sensible to opt for?". Stop being led by the nose by those that profit from war. God this is such a stupid post I wonder if you know any history at all or are perhaps 10 years old? Revisionist claim they were close to surrendering, but very few at the time thought they were. There were elements within the government that didn't want to attack the US in the first place. Those elements had very little say so. The military pretty much ran the countries foreign policy.

Some views disgust me and some don`t. I don`t lable people on there opinions but there actions. The knee jerk reaction to North Korea imo is premature. They have been doing it for many years and yet nothing. If they were the big problem then why no solution, oh wait, no oil. I can have an opinion and you try to insult me, the exact same tacticts antifa uses. That`s why I said it. Just make thinks a little more clear Im more right than left. I can`t stand my Priminister. Oh and to add, there is no such thing as a god`s country or nation and to think god protects just your nation is rather dumb. Yet they didn't surrender after we dropped the first bomb on a city. It simply isn't logical to claim that they would have surrendered if we had dropped it in the ocean instead. In fact it flies in the face of logic. Always remember, and never forget, you are entitled to your own opinion, but no one is entitled to their own reality. God's country is Alabama, in case you are wondering. A photographer was taking pictures of all the churches in the US. At every church he noticed that there was a gold pay phone with a sign above it that said "$100,000 a minute." He asked the minister/priest/etc of each church what the deal with the pay phone was and every one of them answered "It is a direct line to God." When he got to Alabama the first church he photographed was a small church in Boaz. When he saw the gold pay phone the sign above it read "25 cents a minute". He asked the minister why, since every other gold pay phone was $100,000 a minute, the charge was only a quarter a minute? The minister told him that from Alabama it was a local call!!
The Silver Thong Posted May 3, 2017 #699 Share Posted May 3, 2017 They didn`t have a chance to surrender. Im not saying the war was a picnic but really, 2 Nukes. Who else has ever done that. Now we are thinking of Nuking a country with tug boats that go underwater. It`s like thinking Canada could nuke the U.S. NK is all bark and no bite. If you take the bait it could start a very bad thing. You have to think who is going to win, not me or you. Oh and I thought god created the universe not just Alabama. Funny joke though no really. I have one as well An atheist buys an ancient lamp at an auction, takes it home, and begins to polish it. Suddenly, a genie appears, and says, “I’ll grant you three wishes, Master.” The atheist says, “I wish I could believe in you.” The genie snaps his fingers, and suddenly the atheist believes in him. The atheist says, “Wow. I wish all atheists would believe this.” The genie snaps his fingers again, and suddenly atheists all over the world begin to believe in genies. “What about your third wish?” asks the genie. “Well,” says the atheist, “I wish for a billion dollars.” The genie snaps his fingers for a third time, but nothing happens. “What’s wrong?” asks the atheist. The genie shrugs and says, “Just because you believe in me, doesn’t necessarily mean that I really exist”

Truman warned them before the first bomb was dropped and called on them to surrender after the first bombing. A simple "we quit" would have sufficed. Shouldn't have taken three days. Love your joke.
