Theresa May calls General Election for June 8

excellent post.

Its clear we need to vote for a Tory government to get us through Brexit.

On the night of election defeat for the Labour party, the knives will be out for Corbyn, but he will stick around and achieve what he set out to do, take Labour back to the good old days, and he can only do this with a massive defeat as it will, at a stroke clear the Labour decks of all the Blairites MP's from the Party, the same ones trying to oust Corbyn, then and only then can true Labour Party reforms happen, and as the dust settles on the Newly reformed Labour party at the next election 2022 Labour will be a true alternative to the Tories.

I've never voted for the Tory party, voted Labour Twice and UKIP in the EU elections. But there's a time and a place for Party loyalty and this election is not the time and certainly not the place. and as such i'll be voting Tory and hopefully they get a massive majority to see us through Brexit, in 2022 it might be a different story.

.

I totally agree -

I've never voted for the Tory Party before either but this election is the Referendum Part Two and we have to get it right
or the country is in deep trouble -

so I'm voting Tory on this occasion for the good of the country because Labour or the Lib Dems can't or won't make Brexit a success -

Of course, because the Logical choice for a person to lead us through Brexit is somebody who campaigned to Remain!

Shes hopeless and hasn't got a plan beyond "pls don't vote corbyn" .  She cant even reduce immigration for crying our loud, and she had a free reign there. What on earth makes you think she can take on the EU?

There is a lot more at stake here than Brexit. I dont really care who people vote for- just dont vote tory...I hear UKIP are rather pro-brexit...

She makes a lot of sense to me, especially if she has a large Tory majority in Parliament.  She will be able to drive a much harder bargain.  Those who campaigned for it would be far more likely to give in to get an agreement.

I expect we will get Britain effectively remaining in the market except losing its voice in decisions.  Of course that would be unstable as soon as something Britain didn't like was passed.  Then the British would have some hard decisions.

I think at that point there would be another referendum (depending on the actual issue(s) involved.  At some point there will be another referendum anyway.  It might be if it becomes clear no agreement is possible.

It's clear we need hard right Conservatism and "more money being poured into the NHS than ever before (while at the same time emergency units and specialist baby units are being closed and people expected to travel forty miles "because it's more efficient"?

"But Brexit is so much more important than any of that!"? Once we're Free, then what? We'll be free to enjoy... hard right Conservatism and more hospitals being closed "because it's more efficient"? Frankly I'm coming to think brexit is a red herring and it'll make not the slightest difference at all to the ordinary person, whereas more hospitals being closed probably will

.

the way I look at it is ----- that the economy could seriously suffer or even crash if we don't get Brexit negotiations right -
and that would result in many more hospitals being downgraded and closed - ?

having had the referendum and having triggered article 50 this is no time to get cold feet -

The gloves are off now and the EU would like nothing better than Britain to be ruined and in dire straights economically -
in fact for the survival of the EU they are probably planning to make that happen if they can - because they need us to
fail so other countries are scared to go down the same path -

No mater your political allegiance there's only one person capable of negotiating Brexit and that's 'May. Brexit aside who in there right mind would want to go back to inflation at 27%, Rubbish piled high in the streets, bodies not being buried, no electricity and working a 3 day week? this is what Corbyn's offering.

Pragmatic =  handing the country over to the Billionaires and Corporations, and vested interests for another 5 years of butthurt whilst they try and milk us for everything .

No thanks.

Theresa May hates you, she wants your children to starve, she wants your grandma dead, she wants you unable to pay for your own care, she wants your house off you when you die and she wants to take the bread off your table, and sell it to line the pockets of billionaires.

Vote May for more Chaos and Inequality!

Really, the woman running scared from the public and the opposition is the one to fight our corner?  Dont be daft- She'd sell us into slavery if she could for the price of a mcflurry.

oh lord, you're "you're either for us or against us" now are you? You're either pro-Brexiot, so you're a Patriot, or you're a subversive secret agent on behalf of the Enemy (the EU, that is, although of course it could be the russians as well).

Frankly does it really matter that much? Freedom from Brussels'd be only a purely academic freedom from one lot of bureaucracy and we'd still have a hard rightwing regime that closes hospitals because it's more efficient

I can hear her ordering her minions to run off a hundred thousand posters with that on even as we speak. "Now why didn't we think of that as a slogan! Minion! You're fired!". :D

re bolded -

whether anyone likes it or not that is true - and I think most of the Leave Camp understand this and will vote accordingly -

in fact I think many of the Remain Camp will understand this as well - and even though they voted to stay in the EU -
now Article 50 has been triggered they will realise the future of the country depends on getting the leaving process right -

no I'm just  me --- hoping this country doesn't go down the pan because people can't pull together when they need to -

a week is a long time in politics and five years is a very very long time - but normal service can be resumed once Brexit
is sorted out -

who knows what the political landscape will look like then -

Actually i thought it was the pro-Brexiteers that were supposed to be pro-Russian, since it would weaken the EU and encourage Russia's Tyrant, Vlad Putin, to invade Europe (which he wants nothing better than to do, of course)? But i suppose since Jeremy Clarkson is a Commie, then obviously if you plumped for him you'd be doing Putin's foul work. Oh dear, what is one to do? :(

I don't need anyone to tell me what to ''''believe'''' - including you :)

A tough decision was made with whether to Leave or Remain in the EU -
There could be tough times ahead getting the Leaving sorted out -

It could be tough, but it doesn't have to be suicidal - which seems to be the path you are recommending -

Joking aside it's this type of hyperbole that has labour in the situation it finds itself today, i'm watching exactly the same twaddle being spouted on tv right now and the country's

shaking it's head they think we're fools, they have no credibility.

Another piece of idiocy from the May government: The Royal Navy's helicopter carrier HMS Ocean, which is only 20 years old, will be decommissioned next year and possibly sold to Brazil. This will leave the RN without any kind of a big ship with an aviation capability until the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carrier becomes fully operational, possibly in 2028*. But of course this will be ignored, because only Ms. May can give us Brexit, and after Brexit, we'll be free!

* I'm being slightly satirical here, but that's pretty much what it's like
