Trump fires FBI Director Comey

Calls for Comey's head have ping ponged back and forth from all sides and parties over the last year so condemning this decision would be hypocritical by nearly everyone here, in the media or in Washington. He may have made bad calls with good intent or vica versa for all I know. What has been obvious for a long time he's been between a rock and a hard place and has been a public image nightmare for the FBI. He seems like a decent guy who was dealt a terrible hand.

It seems he was fired after he asked for more resources to carry out his Trump investigations.  I can only hummmmmmmm.

Dutchie, please cite a single source that states that president Trump is under investigation.  One will be sufficient.  While you're about it, you might want to notice that the flurry of leaks that came like rain in the days just before and after the inauguration have stopped.  The leaks on Flynn were about classified info and as such were FELONIES.  Flynn's remarks from a partial transcript of a conversation with a Russian official were never made public for that reason, nor did the source of the leak provide info that could convict him of a crime.  Trump's team were surveilled using a backdoor technique that I suspect will be rooted out by Congress before all this is over.  The bottom line here, at least for rational people, is that if there was a smoking gun that proved that Trump or ANY of his team or family had colluded with the Russian government or agents to subvert our process, we'd be arguing about his impeachment or trial by now.  The Dems don't wait around for dramatic effect.  They want to disable and remove this POTUS as quickly as possible.  Every day he remains, he is taking a wrecking ball to Obama's legacy.  Trump will not be removed from the presidency for any real cause that can be proven in a court of law.  IF he is removed, it will be through relentless innuendo followed by some made up charge that allows the RINO's in House and Senate enough political cover to stab him in the back without risking their seats.

Today, May 10, 2017, about 6 months have elapsed since these rumors and innuendo began swirling.  NOT ONE SHRED of actual verifiable EVIDENCE has been presented to anyone.  I'm not sure how they handle justice in your country but over here, at least for a while yet, evidence is required to convict a person of a crime.

The fact that so many seem willing to dispense with that trifling requirement where POTUS is concerned should set off warning lights and bells to any thinking person.

I never stated that Trump himself is under investigation. I said Trump associates / administration and campaign members.

Hillary is still waiting to be charged and convicted. Wasn't it Trumps election promise?

Yes it was..and now that Comey has finally been 'let go'....(which IMO was way overdue) somebody new and totally impartial might now 'properly' get to the bottom of the misdeeds and the corruption of Hillary Clinton & Co...including her foundation.

As I'm sure you are aware, (unless you've been living under a rock) Clinton's email scandal showed consistent mishandling of classified information...that even Comey himself had acknowledged.

So why Comey caved and let her get away with these crimes, is simply beyond me.To let her off the hook, and not bring proper charges against this woman....(except by saying that she was careless)?...is simply mind boggling.

IMHO, the email fiasco reeked with obvious corruption and deceit...and for some unknown reason, Comey covered for her. The question still remains tho, as why??....

This is great.  The firing of Comey opens the door for Trey Gowdy ... I would love this guy as FBI Director!!

I don't mind Gowdy. From what Iv'e seen of him, he is a man that pulls no punches, and calls it like it is. He's a tough cookie.

Except there is zero evidence of that Frank.  All you have is crazy Chuck Schumer lying again.  It is funny Frank how you ignore the innumerable crimes committed by the democrats and then use any and every rumor to attack the republicans.    Why is that Frank?  What have the democrats done for you and your country that is so special?

I may be wrong, so feel free to correct me. But from what Iv'e gathered. It's more of a counter intelligence investigation. It's not a criminal investigation. As there has been no evidence of a crime yet.

Now let's see if I got this straight: evidence that the Trump team and maybe even Trump himself colluded with Putin and Company to alter the results of an American election would not be a crime.  Sure.

Gowdy is a superb prosecutor and an excellent representative but he is a guy that needs to be public and out front on TV, at least IMHO, and that is not something that the director of the FBI should be doing.   Once again, just my opinion Astra and if Gowdy desired the job I'd be very happy and comfortable having him assume the job but I'd rather he stays out front.  That said, he is an honest and straight forward man who defends the constitution so I'd be happy to have him clean up the FBI's tarnished reputation.

If there was any intelligence evidence at all that there was collusion it would've leaked by now.   there is nothing there except the Obama administration's unprecedented misuse of our foreign intelligence gathering used to spy on Obama's political opponents.   Now that Comey is gone a real investigation can begin.

What evidence Frank.  If you have some spill it because, literally,  the entire US intelligence apparatus has none.

"He wasn't doing a good job."  That is all Trump says.  If that were the truth, he would have been fired on day one since the mistakes had to do with Clinton.

No the real reason is he was getting the job done, and it was pointing at Trump.  Anyone with any sense at all can see this.  The Republicans are getting their first taste of power, so they hold together (sort of) and they will pay for it.  I forsee the extinction of the Republican party in the United States in a few years.

In point of fact if I were American I would be a Republican, although the present President is a disaster.  I believe strongly in freedom -- my experiences and my whole life testify to that -- and so in that respect would be a Democrat, except of course it has a wing that seems to think the solution to all social problems is money (I refer to a certain Senator from Vermont).  Clinton got pushed a little to far to the left by this man, and so, like McGovern, went down -- although that was a minor part of the loss.

Unfortunately there is a group of Republicans -- they are I would say sexist and usually racist -- who wanted to get even with Obama and see to it no black man ever got elected again.  These are the Trump types and how they treated the rest of the Republican field, under Trump's cheering, was disgusting.  The Republicans had several excellent, and a few not-so-good possible candidates -- and look what happened because of the bigotry in the Republican party.

America is now on a serious downhill slope.  They can't even repeal Obamacare (sure they got it through the House but the Senate is unlikely in the extreme.  The tax proposals are reasonable and I would support them, with maybe a few changes, but nothing will happen now that Trump has the Democrats so united against him.  The man is also prone to take extreme positions overseas, and I fear war with Turkey or N. Korea (although some sense seems to have penetrated Trump's head in the second case recently).

Hillary was guilty, but was just proclaimed a little careless. Trump was a elected President when Flynn  spoke to a Russian  ambassador . Big deal! Other administrations have done that before. People are really so sick of all this :(

What was pointing at Trump frank?  Not one shred of evidence after 6 months of investigations and not a word from you about Obama's a[arent misuse of our intelligence agencies to spy on his political opponents.  Why Frank?  You care so much about fairness yet there is far more evidence (any evidence would be far more) that Obama used our spy agencies, that are strictly forbidden to spy on Americans, to spy on Trump yet you are silent.  Why Frank?

Now, Merc, you know it's perfectly alright for Democrats to break the rules and bend the law and walk all over the Constitution. Why, everyone knows they only do it for truth, justice and mom's apple pie and to preserve the American way of life.

No, you'd be a progressive Frank.  You have no idea what you are talking about and hate America so you'd be a progressive.

Which republicans would those be Frank.  Name names or apologize and leave the discussion.

Seriously?  Our economy is just now rebounding after 8 years of Obama's historically bad performance, economically, and Trump is just getting started.   As usual you don't let facts get in your way Frank.

The house just repealed it Frank.  We'll see what teh senate does.  Obamacare is failing catastrophically Frank and if they do nothing it will collapse but don't consider reality frank.

Gee, thanks Frank

yeah, getting China to spank KJU was a terrible thing to do.  You are a laughably biased POS frank.

That’s more than he had to say.

That’s a false statement.  I answered this in a previous post.  For one, the Progs were slow walking confirmation of Trump’s appointments and with Sessions reusing himself, needed to wait for Rosenstein to get established so that he could advise the President.  The second part is that there are mistakes all over the place.  Comey was basically trying to play to both sides instead of doing his job.

No the real reason is he was getting the job done, and it was pointing at Trump.

He wasn’t doing his job.  He was causing more problems than he was solving.  Nothing is pointing at Trump.  If anything was pointing at Trump, Comey would have had given a press conference and would have done the same thing he did to Hilary.  He would have said that “we found evidence of collusion but since we feel it wasn’t intentional, we’re not going to indict.”

Anyone with any sense at all can see this.

Anyone who has not lost their mind sees no such thing.

I wouldn’t say first taste but they are definitely being Republicans in that act like guilty Jews with everything.  There are afraid of their own shadow.  They’re afraid that they will be blamed for shutting down the government.  They need to do it and be proud of doing it.  When you have the power then use it!  PERIOD!!

We have seen the extinction of the Democratic party, so why not the Republican?  It’s time to morph into the next party system.  We should be honest and just admit that the Dems are now Progs which is the American Socialist Party.  The GOP will drop the Establishment so they can join with the Progs and what’s left will be true American Conservatives.  But this party system won’t last long either because socialism does not consider the best interests of the nation.  Socialism is a greedy selfish power base.  And like all systems like that, will fall apart.

frank has disconnected from reality.  He is oblivious to the fact that the democrats, all on their ow, have lost a historic number of elected seats at all levels the last six years.  The republicans had little to do with it, tit was all a rejection of the progressive agenda and we need to get real conservatives in charge of the GOP while keeping the DNC as popular as frank's delusional mind sees them.

...you're assuming that Hillary is guilty. Comley and the FBI had ample opportunity to lay a case and didn't. Thing is Astra, that only a new director of the FBI will be able to prove it. Let's just wait and see whether the investigation into Clinton is even started up and whether it goes any where.

As it stands Hillary 1 Trump 0

Because they have nothing to offer when it comes to reality, actual solutions and positive policies.

Negative personal attacks is all they have left on the Left.

Expect 4 more years of the same old crap.... or just tune it out! That's my suggestion, just keep a very close eye on your elected Reps, and let them know that you are doing so.
