Seriously? They tuck the other leg under their body?

All these years I've been donating to Disabled Flamingo charities.....

The BBC says they do switch legs. I always taught it might be something to do with body heat loss. Now I know, perhaps.

So once the stay mechanism is engaged they'll stand upright even after they're dead? The testing for that seems a bit morbid, but at least now I know why the flamingos in my neighbors garden haven't moved.

You are still right with the heat loss, it's pretty much exactly the same thing.

Their legs/feet aren't insulated, so losing heat means more energy burned to stay warm.

Scientists have determined that flamingos prefer to stand on one leg as it helps them conserve energy.

so basically they have stated what has already been stated in the past.

Ok...true story. I sometimes do the tree pose when I'm trying to fall asleep. Maybe I'm conserving energy?

After a good day of meditating I can almost do it with both the legs tucked in ...
