freetoroam Posted June 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Well this is the Japanese, so no surprises to this silly research. And i must admit, I never heard of this phenomenon before....maybe its another Japanese thing. Quote phenomenon known as "the social facilitation of eating" - See more at: http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/news/308515/food-tastes-better-when-you-eat-at-a-mirror#sthash.LD8eyNWs.dpuf I enjoy my husbands cooking, I know sitting in front of a mirror is going to make it taste better. quiXilver Posted June 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I'm going to take the family to have dinner @ Opaque this Summer. It's a restaurant where you order your meal in a dimly lit anteroom, then are escorted into the completely dark dining room where your meal is served in the dark. Unique. Should accent the flavors and the conversation I would imagine. Opaque... Dark Dining.

Actually studies have shown that different lighting, sounds, room temperature, descriptive words, and many other factors all influence the way food tastes. See post #2, just listened to an interview with the author of the book and it was much more interesting than you may think. Kiltedmusician Posted June 16, 2017 #22 Share Posted June 16, 2017 I could easily see this helping some people to eat less too, as they see themselves in the mirror. Lol
