Was just listening to a podcast where they were interviewing an author named Bob Holmes about his new book titled, Flavor . If you're into this subject then you may find this an interesting read.

Well this is the Japanese, so no surprises to this silly research.

And i must admit, I never heard of this phenomenon before....maybe its another Japanese thing.

I enjoy my husbands cooking, I know sitting in front of a mirror is going to make it taste better. But our food is not raw or mainly rice. :P

I'm going to take the family to have dinner @ Opaque this Summer.  It's a restaurant where you order your meal in a dimly lit anteroom, then are escorted into the completely dark dining room where your meal is served in the dark.  Unique.  Should accent the flavors and the conversation I would imagine.

Opaque... Dark Dining.

Ummm ... at least one hundred thousand years of evolution validated, we enjoy eating together. Break bread and be friends.

The only time I take pictures of food is when I make it and want to show a friend.

This sounds like nonsense, but I'm no expert.

Actually studies have shown that different lighting, sounds, room temperature, descriptive words, and many other factors all influence the way food tastes.  See post #2, just listened to an interview with the author of the book and it was much more interesting than you may think.

I could easily see this helping some people to eat less too, as they see themselves in the mirror. Lol
