Still Waters Posted June 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Using an innovative imaging technique, archaeologists have revealed ancient Hebrew inscriptions on a 2,600-year-old piece of pottery, which had remained invisible to the naked eye until now. Known as an ostraca, the artefact dates back to Biblical times, and was found in the desert fortress of Arad (Israel), in what was once the Kingdom of Judah. The final years of the Kingdom of Judah described in the Hebrew Bible ended with the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BCE. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/israel-apos-invisible-apos-text-111428998.html Quote Ancient Tablet Inscription Reveals Demand for Wine in Hebrew https://uk.news.yahoo.com/ancient-israelites-demand-wine-revealed-110548553.html

Claire. Posted June 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) Thanks SW, both articles were really quite interesting. It's great that we now have technology that can help reveal things we would have otherwise missed. It really made me chuckle to see a message between friends for a wine delivery dating back 600 B.C. — something many of us can relate to today. Here's a copy of the study as published in the journal PLoS One. Edited June 18, 2017 by Claire. Fixed study url.

The link to the study is also in my OP, it's in the 2nd source link. Quote “While its front side has been thoroughly studied, its back was considered blank,” said Arie Shaus of the university's Mathematics Department and lead investigator of the study into the contents of the message. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/ancient-israelites-demand-wine-revealed-110548553.html

I even went back to skim both articles to make sure it wasn't referenced before posting. Yeah I know. Loser.
