Gnosticism

Death is just death. Life is what you do in between and nothing really matters. Nothing is truly meaningful and no ones really going to care once you're forgotten. Existence is futile.

Facing it is the worst part, it truly sucks, truly. Just keep talking it helps.

I face the potential death of another ever single day. I smell death, I feel death, and there is nothing I can do to help. So I sit back and support, even possess a feeble hope that things will work out. And I willingly give the money to save another life at the discomfort of my own. I do not care about myself. I exist and I will die, nothing I do will have any long term effects but I do something. I try. I can't save the world and I know this. Maybe the only good thing I will ever do is give someone just a little longer.

No I think I'm done.

It is inner strength at this point, you have got to hold it together, not check out. You are needed, truly to be there --just what you are doing is what helps.

Trust yourself, you can count on yourself. You can.

Come on Umers X needs us...

keep the love coming...

Fish,

I've been reading your posts ever since I joined this forum and I want you to know that I love you brother. I mean it.

It's because of people like you that the world turns round right. Just keep it in mind for now that no one at any given time can be sure of much, except that when you allow time to pass by sufficiently enough, every time, you breathe and get relief that what you thought was wrong is actually right, and visa versa.

What will those in your life who love you do without the love you provide them?

Its nonsense and pointless no matter how you spin it.

But then everything seems nonsense and pointless to you, yet not to others so it is clearly a perception issue.

Highest potential doesn't exist. No matter what, you'll be chasing one goal after another.

Highest potential exists as a goal. It is a motivational aspiration which pushes us to improve and evolve, and not to stagnate.

It's just a goal. Nothing highest about it. Should we aspire to be an emotionless robot like you Walker? Would that be a fitting goal for everyone to follow?

No it's more factual. Life has no inherent meaning, nothing we do will last. Once we are gone a shadow of ourselves was be cast only so long as someone remembers, but when they die we will die. You can't speak of genetics in this Walker you have no kids. So not even your DNA will last.

So it means striving for the  highest physically possible   I am not emotionless. I am filled with joy happiness connectedness love peace and contentment i just choose not o construct destructive emotional responses  Our legacy is not always genetic although some humans need to breed to let the race survive Our main legacy as individuals is what we do in life, how we help others and how we improve the world   I have raised more young people than most (over a dozen)  and my love for them is no less than a biological parents Indeed my love for them is far greater than some of their biological parents. To be like me would be a fitting goal as there would be no anger hate envy jealousy or violence in that world There would be love equality   compassion and peace. But there is room for a lot of individual variation while still eliminating loss of emotional control and those old animals drivers we inherited from our primate ancestors

Every life has a meaning Everything we do constructs and influences the future of our world  and so, like it or not ,we are each accountable for how we live our lives    Nothing i do can be undone, and the effects will last for eternity, as past is frozen in stone and we create our own future.   Even if i am long forgotten I have changed the world and it is a different place because i existed within it.  Thats the logical and factual truth about time and reality

I see the very thing I point out. People trying to be important to others.

Can't help but wonder why he always has something to say no matter the topic. There is stuff I do not know but I can not make myself seem knowledgeable. Nor do I magically have "life stories" that always seem to relate to the topic at hand.

And so?  That just puts me in with everything else in your life.

To add to my post above.Yesterday my wife and i visited an elderly lady whose husband is in a nursing home and who has few friends or relatives  in our town We socialised wither for an hour, and it gave her great joy

Did it change the world ? Probably not but it made one woman happy

.When i was a young teacher i taught a  teenage girl (about 13 years of age)  30 years later she came up to me at a conference and told me that i had changed her life.

She hated school and was ready to quit when i taught her history and english  She so much enjoyed those lessons that they changed her attitude to school.  She stayed on, went to uni, and became a teacher herself So my influence in just that one example is resonating down through the   years and will alawys continue to do so, until humanity ceases to exist.  In other words sometimes is not about the long term effects of how you live your life, but sometimes it s

Yep that's just you :) I do matter and my life can be objectively measured by the difference it has made   Hundreds of young people educated and  given hope for a good and happy future.  6 people saved from dying by my own hands  Hundreds (possibly thousands)  of people saved from death by the donation of money to feed them and give them safe water and sanitation

What i see with many people, are people who dont give a damn, or at least not enough to do anything, and resent being told that the y really should,  both care and act.

The only reason I'm interacting with you is out of pity. I feel bad for you and that says something coming from me. I don't normally pity people. You appear to me like one of those lonely old people who just start talking and talking because it makes them feel like they're important. But everyone around them just want them to shut up.

Of course you don't and so you will always be trapped in the slough of despondency and the pit of despair.   if you were actually happy, or even content, I wouldnt be worried for you.

There it is. The very same crap I get from other people. I've been waiting for it Walker. Took you long enough. You have fun worrying about me. I still don't care.

Damn right. Being self-important is equally overrated.

False perception I am here for a reason and while some people don't like that reason it is a very important one

Old people arent all lonely or feel worthless or  past their use by date you know Some continue to strive to make a difference and adapt to things like the internet to do so.   I usually get to bed between 1 and 3 am and get up between 7 and 8 am because my life is to full of things to  stay a bed any longer. Every moment of every day is filled with interest, purpose, people, new challenges and excitement  My mother was on half a dozen committees and boards well into her nineties often as an office bearer
