doctor wu Posted August 26, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2017 https://hermetic.com/bey/conspire " Conspiracy Theory is therefore of interest only as a kind of sociology of culture, a tracking of the delusory fantasies of certain in-groups and out-groups-but conspiracy theory itself has no ontological status."
doctor wu Posted August 29, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted August 29, 2017 https://daily.jstor.org/the-philosophy-of-conspiracy-theories/ " So who believes conspiracy theories? One survey of New Jersey residents found that most people believed “that several of a list of 10 conspiracy theories were at least probably true.” The survey also found that: people who believed in one conspiracy were more likely to also believe in others. Belief was correlated with anomie, lack of interpersonal trust, and insecurity about employment. Black and Hispanic respondents were more likely to believe in conspiracy theories than were white respondents. Young people were slightly more likely to believe in conspiracy theories, but there were few significant correlations with gender, educational level, or occupational category." Minimalists Posted September 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2017 Heres what Wiki has to say: A conspiracy theory is an explanation of an event or situation that invokes a conspiracy without warrant, generally one involving an illegal or harmful act carried out by government or other powerful actors. Conspiracy theories often produce hypotheses that contradict the prevailing understanding of history or simple facts. The term is a derogatory one.[3] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theory CTers usually referred to as Nutters.
doctor wu Posted September 5, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted September 5, 2017 From the essay posted above....: "History is a big mess. Maybe conspiracies don't work. But we have to act as if they do work. In fact the non-authoritarian movement not only needs its own conspiracy theory, it needs its own conspiracies.
