Silver Surfer Posted August 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2017 Probably not a mystery and awesome natural formative reason for it... anyway.. feel free to enlighten me. We have some spheres in little old NZ it seems. Just thought id highlight that some more came out of the sea in the NZ 7.8 Kaikoura earthquake. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/96105986/november-earthquake-uncovers-dinosaur-egg-boulders-in-kaikoura And some already known about: http://www.moerakiboulders.com/

Many such spheres are concretions, found in sedimentary strata, as explained here and here. 3

The rocks are formed around a crystal structure. They start off small and the crystals grow, gathering a crust. Forming a natural round Rock. You have to have the right kind of volcanic materials in the ground, so Kiakoura would fit the bill. 7

Well: the point was that somthing new came up about concretions, just today, and I thought it might be of some relevance to this thread. Mistaken comments and conclusions about concretions have been appearing in all sorts of forums for years.
