Any chicken keepers on UM?

I just found out I will be able to keep a few chickens starting next spring. I've already reached out to some other chicken places and folks.. but hey, UM often turns up a plethora of information about a lot of topics.

So any other chicken keepers out there? I'd like to keep a small flock... a steady supply of some eggs, probably a yearly killing done by a local butcher, along with the inevitable pet and flock chickens that will end up happening.

I have got free range egg layers with plans of developing broiler flocks, as i want to keep a steady supply of fresh meat in the freezer during the spring and summer months while also stockpiling for colder months

I used to keep and show bantams but now I've changed over to quails I also keep a trio of little chinese paint quail in my finch avairy
