Raptor Witness Posted September 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2017 This is theoretical question, which is not being currently raised by scientists or weathermen. Could a massive hurricane, with a massive storm surge in just the right position, effectively lasso the Gulf Stream, and change its course, even temporarily? It's probably happened many times before, but are there places where the results could much more profound? What would be the end result of this alteration in the Gulf Stream, both in terms of the overall potential storm surge along the path of such a hurricane, including its intensification, and the effect on both the short and longer term climate? Would changing the direction of the Gulf Stream, and pointing it at, let's say .... the West Coast of Florida, have any added or unexpected impact, especially when combined with the surge of the hurricane? The answer may be happening now .... This is a current view of the Gulf Stream, essentially in real time. What will happen?
