RavenHawk Posted January 26, 2018 #61 Share Posted January 26, 2018 I came looking here for a thread on the new X Files. Nothing yet. In the mean time… I’m surprised there is only 3 pages here. But anyway, in last night’s episode (Forehead Sweat), the Mandela Effect and Phony Fake News with Dr They and the Alien Trump scenes are the best ever. The Alien handing Mulder (the king of conspiracy) the book of “All the Answers” is reminiscent of the Twilight Zone’s “To Serve Man”. Hopefully, the segway (segue) wasn’t too obvious. Dr Who has a lifetime of great scenes. One of the most poignant is the history of regeneration from one doctor to the other and the cadre of companions. It is emotionally the most bitter-sweat of anything on celluloid or in print. And that leads me into a genre of movies/scenes that are my favorite. What tugs at my heart are the time travel/alternate reality stories with lost love and sacrifice. One that comes to mind is this one: How our lives affect so many others and how even one man (person) can make a difference. Mr Gower didn’t kill the child, Harry saved the men on the transport, and even Violet’s life was changed for the better. I hate to say I agree with Third-Eye but he has good tastes in movies. The “Gotta Dance” scene in ‘Singing’ is beautiful on many levels. I like this scene in MFL: Last Samurai is one of my favorites: I will tell you how he lived! – What could be more necessary? The Great Dictator was very profound at that time as it was one of the few that was raising the warning. Excellent scene!!! Anything baseball piques my interest: I love the swashbuckling by Douglas Fairbank (sr and jr) and Errol Flynn but this is my favorite: I know something you don’t… This movie marked a change in American Cinema. America grew up and matured: The camera angles and lighting spoke its own dialogue behind the spoken lines. Speaking of Frederick March, here he is going toe-to-toe with Spencer Tracy: Here’s a great side by side comparison of two films I love. I think it is funnier if you watch the 1980 version then the 1957 version. In the newer version, you see Mike with hair before Heisenberg kills him.

EllJay Posted February 17, 2018 #74 Share Posted February 17, 2018 I don't know if this is directly a favorite movie scene per se. Maybe more of a "favorite" horror scene. A heart-stopper that fills my veins with ice water. It's the opening sequence from Cliffhanger. I almost get physically ill when I watch it coz I hate big heights. The lady there (actress Michelle Joyner) plays her role with such fear, terror - and sheer death agony - you can almost taste it. And when the last buckle breaks - and she slowly is slipping the grip, and then falls - the terror in her eyes is horrific. I've seen the movie several times and my heart stops every time... 'kin 'ell, what a horrible way to die. Watch it in fullscreen.
EllJay Posted February 17, 2018 #75 Share Posted February 17, 2018 This is a hilarious outtake from the movie This is 40. Melissa McCarthy is making an ad-lib, without any script in this scene, to come up with the worst offending thing she can say. So they let the camera roll and she just wings it. The hilarious thing is that Paul Rudd & Leslie Mann cant keep a straight face after a while, but Melissa McCarthy just goes on and on, improvising and cursing. PS: might contain a swear word or two. Here is the actual scene that was in the movie. They kept a few lines from the ad-lib:
