Why Moral Relativism Doesn't Work

Thank you Lilly for bringing up this topic, in philosophy class we've been learning about Cultural Relativism (a grander scale of Moral Relativism) and the problems you've brought up are extremely "relative" to those discussed in our textbook. It seems as if being "well-rounded" nowadays is shockingly similar to having the same ideas of a cultural relativist. Of course this doesn't give the excuse for one to be racist or bigoted, but people must pick a side if we as the human race want to grow as a whole.

I think morals are in its core either a system designed for a society to work in the most efficient way or perhaps in a deeper metaphysical sense a way of instructing an individual to strive to the best percieved way towards spiritual development. Morals essentialy present a code of conduct. Some individuals choose a code which serves best to their own interest, others think or instinctually feel that serving others and respecting others has a greater value. If we stick to lets say "survival of the fittest" kind of mentality, then perhaps former individuals have more correct moral code. But if on the other hand we feel that everything is connected and workings of the universe operate on a karmic level then perhaps we should think twice.
