Timothy Posted October 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2017 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-41466116 Quote More than twenty people have been killed and at least 100 injured in a mass shooting at a Las Vegas concert. A gunman opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel toward an open-air music festival being held close by. The clip I watched had sounds which were very much like an automatic high caliber weapon. Hopefully it’s not as bad as the initial reports are suggesting. Scary stuff. Anyone have any more and more accurate info?
+and-then Posted October 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2017 I couldn't find any more details yet. I agree that it sounds like a full-auto weapon. From 32 floors up, the person could really inflict carnage over a wide area. Hopefully, they can shut him down quickly.

Timothy Posted October 2, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Sounds horrific, apparently hundreds of shots fired. Sounded like one gun but multiple clips. Initial photos look really bad. Hope it’s not as bad as it looks. Thoughts to anyone involved.

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted October 2, 2017 #13 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Surely a hotel and casino (or a place where STUPID amounts of money are kept) would have rules about checking to make sure the punters aren’t going to rob with with machine guns?
.ZZ. Posted October 2, 2017 #14 Share Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) 50+ dead according to the Sheriff. BTW, It wouldn't be difficult to get weapons and ammo into your hotel room, I've stayed there. I went to a car show in that parking lot. Edited October 2, 2017 by .ZZ.
LV-426 Posted October 2, 2017 #15 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Tragic The numbers are now putting it as the worst mass shooting in American history. What an utterly incomprehensible waste of life. Best wishes and hoping you're all safe and well if you're in that part of the States.
pallidin Posted October 2, 2017 #16 Share Posted October 2, 2017 How incredibly sad. All those innocent people killed (50+) and injured (200+) by some nutcase. I can't even imagine the loss, pain and suffering those victims have and are experiencing.

Lilly Posted October 2, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 2, 2017 This is really bad, various news sources are implying that the shooter was a convert and was radicalized via the internet. An ISIS video calling for an attack on Las Vegas surfaced during the summer months. I guess the attacker could have had another motive but I'm personally doubtful considering the recent ISIS video and the nature of the attack.
.ZZ. Posted October 2, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 2, 2017 I'll bet that hotels are going to install metal detectors on their entrances now. Every square inch (other than inside rooms) have video surveillance.
pallidin Posted October 2, 2017 #20 Share Posted October 2, 2017 Hopefully the number of deceased won't go higher. A trauma nurse at one of the local hospitals said in a broadcast that some of the injured are in "very critical" condition and are unknown as to survivability. F3SS Posted October 2, 2017 #21 Share Posted October 2, 2017 I just heard they have the shooters roommate, some Asian woman, who worked at the hotel. Unsure of motive but this was planned, not random.

This is the first case of a actual assault rifle being used in a mass murder spree, others were semi-automatic...
