The Bush administration, with Tony Blair as their lapdog, started a war in Iraq without any evidence of what they claimed. (if you check the links Parsec provided, and other sources it is clear that it's not an "opinion")

Why? Could be that they wanted to show some sort of action after 9/11 to satisfy the public and win the upcoming election.

Maybe it was an attempt to try to set up a new regime in Iraq to shift the powerbalance.

Maybe the big oil reserve in Iraq.

But it sure wasn't that they where afraid of any weapons Saddam could posess.

You just don't bomb a country into oblivion based on some vauge made up evidence like that!

Did Saddam deserve what he got? Sure, but it could have been fixed anyway!

My belief is that Bush Jnr was just finishing off for Bush Snr.If I remember back to the Gulf War part 1 in 91 Bush Snr wanted to go all the way to Baghdad but I seem to remember at the time that we Brits and rest of Coalition said no.
