If they do I would doubt they have technology too. You need fire for that.

Admiral Richard E. Byrd of the United States Navy flew to the North Pole in 1926 and over the South Pole in 1929. He referred to Antarctica as "The Land of Everlasting Mystery". In reference to the North Pole he wrote: "I'd like to see that land beyond the North Pole, it is the Center of the Great Unknown."

  • In his diary, Byrd allegedly tells of entering the hollow interior of the earth, along with others and traveling 17 miles over mountains, lakes, rivers, green vegetation, and animal life. He tells of seeing tremendous animals resembling the mammoths of antiquity moving through the brush. He eventually found cities and a thriving civilization. The external temperature was 74 degrees F.

His airplane was greeted by flying machines of a type he had never seen before. They escorted him to a safe landing area where he was graciously greeted by emissaries from Agartha. After resting, he and his crew, were taken to meet the king and queen of Agartha. They told him that he had been allowed to enter Agartha because of his high moral and ethical character. They went on to say that they worried about the safety of planet due to he bombs and other testing done above the surface by governments. After the visit Byrd and his crew were guided back to the surface of the planet.

Byrd stated that the North and South Poles are only two of many openings into the center of the Earth. He also wrote about seeing a sun below the Earth.

Other planets will have different chemistry than ours and who knows what kind of technology they might develop if sufficiently intelligent.

Can't see it myself, flippers and fins make poor hands, opposable thumbs are required to manipulate tools, I would speculate that any intelligent life with tech will have tree dwellers in their ancestry. That said, in our Seas, we have the whale and Dolphin species and Octopi that are intelligent to a point.

I knew a trumpet player that had webbed hands and feet so really would find be necessary? Not saying I believe but they are always other potentials.

Who need hands when you're a telekinetic whale-man?

Sad world, where is art what about music and some physical objects which are not natural underwater...

But one thing is sure, such civilization would be earning majority of Gold medal at Galactic Games.

The technology we have developed requires opposable thumbs and fire.  But who can say what a telepathic octopoid could do with a volcanic vent?

If a civilization exists in an ocean, their technology will be quite alien to us (no pun intended). Their building blocks would be stones, coral and other native materials. To take the Aquaman and Namor "whale man" comment from above, who says they would appear human.  Humanoid maybe, but human is a stretch.

Did you check the links you provided? The link from live science does not support the fiction above. This funny fiction about a hollow earth and Byrd has been debunked here at U-M many times. The quote from Byrd is true. The diary entries are pure fiction. It comes from a book by F. Amadeo Giannini.

There are also stories of killer tornados full of angry sharks. Both are equally true.

I'm not talking about Hollywood stories Batman.

Sad, but true. No Pellucidar.                     Earths-Core-Edgar-Rice-Burroughs.jpg

Might as well be when it comes to hollow earth theory.  Seismic waves being measured globally kinda ruined it, and let's not get into that whole pesky issue of earth's magnetic field.

When I used science to deduce the world isn't flat either I became more of a 'donut shaped earth' guy...mostly due to custard donuts rather than any NASA conspiracy, if I'm honest.

Yea a theory is just a theory that's for sure. I'm not sure how seismic waves test the hollow earth theory but please do tell. I have a theory also that you have a good sense of humor.

When an earthquake strikes the resulting shock waves set the Earth ringing like a bell. The waves bounce backwards and forwards through the Earth and are measured at different points all over the globe.

The speed at which these waves arrive at a particular monitoring station combined with the magnitude of the quake etc tell us about the density of material those waves passed through. If there was a significant cavity in the Earth then we would detect it.

On the humour front, I make no claims to being funny but never take me too seriously .

Interesting and thanks. Have you measured that all yourself? I mean is that your career field that you know for sure by looking yourself that it proves the Earth is not hollow? Have there ever been any tests in Antarctica? Yea we need some humor around here because things can get very serious really fast especially when it comes to peoples beliefs. That's why I at least try to have an open mind.

No I've never looked myself and it's not my field, I'm literally just 'some guy' with no real qualifications. That's just me repeating what I've heard. You see I have a brother-in-law who is a vulcanologist by qualification but actually prospects for oil companies. He uses data from these sources to help locate large untapped oil reserves. Data is gathered from pretty much everywhere on the globe these days, including the Arctic and Antarctic.

That is just my personal experience of talking to him but it's also backed up by looking at the peer reviewed science as well, and there are a good number of documentaries that explain how it works if you're interested.

I'm willing to accept anything as possible, except the demonstrably untrue or logically fallacious.

The pull of gravity, virtually equal from all points of the inner surface of a hypothetical planet-sized sphere, would have the effect of rendering everything within that sphere, weightless.

Could aquatic civilizations exist? Given the preponderance of terrestrial biological data suggesting the negative, it seems only the stuff of human imagination. Then I stop and consider how unlikely it would be for a species of the size and intelligence of a shrew to evolve into a creature smart enough and clever enough to build gigantic mechanisms and the apparatus to launch itself to another heavenly body and walk on it's surface. Humbled by this, I realize that the Universe has a pretty good imagination, too.

A theory is not a theory. You seem to be using the word theory as in a wild eyed guess. Seismology is a scientific theory. It is a well established theory. It is used to "visualize" plates. It is used to show how earthquakes work. It is used to detect the mantle and core.

There are many reasons that the world cannot be hollow.

1. seismic waves. There are two types of waves P and S. These waves behave in different waves and allow scientists to see the properties of the interior of the Earth. If the Earth were hollow then waves could not travel to points on the surface as they do.

2. structural. Rocks are not strong enough to support a hollow Earth. The Earth would collapse due to gravity.

3. density. If the Earth were hollow then it would have to be made of exotic dense materials to account for the total mass of the Earth. These materials would have to be completely unlike anything we are aware of today.

4. Magnetic field. The magnetic field increases as we go into the Earth showing that it is due to an interior process. Current theories are that it is due to moving molten iron in the outer core. The magnetic field suggests that the interior must not be hollow.

5. gravity studies. The gravitational field tells us that the Earth is not hollow.

The evidence against a hollow earth is overwhelming.

The first person to point this out was Newton. He showed that if we dug a shaft to the center of the Earth the effect would be that the gravitational force as we descended would be as if the Earth were only the size of the material under our feet. So if we went 100 miles down, then the force would be as if we stripped off the entire 100 miles of Earth above us. At the center we'd experience 0 gravity but a huge pressure.

But you don't want a mind as open as a hollow earth. CT's like that are just plain dumb. Hehe (so you know I have some humour in my bones)

That would be one hell of a carnival ride! Strap in with an infinite-pressure and heat-proof suit and experience gravity until you come to rest in the center of the earth.

Might take a while and equal death though... :su Maybe I'll wait for a few others to test first.
