Sent another PM to @BrooklynGuy, still no response. I hope he's alright, wherever he may be.

Here's another story that has been developing recently.

"Reputed mobster Anthony ‘Rom’ Romanello hauled off to jail after slugging steakhouse owner — despite lawyer’s plea that he’s too old"

https://nypost.com/2023/12/12/metro/reputed-genovese-mobster-anthony-rom-romanello-hauled-off-to-jail-despite-lawyers-plea-that-his-life-expectancy-is-in-the-single-digits/

"The elderly reputed Genovese mobster caught-on-camera slugging a New York City restauranteur was hauled off to jail Tuesday following his extortion conviction – despite pleas from his attorney that he’s too old to be behind bars."

"Anthony “Rom” Romanello, 86, was cuffed and taken into custody in front of tearful family members inside a Brooklyn courtroom — less than 24 hours after a federal jury found him guilty of shaking down steakhouse owner Shuqeri “Bruno” Selimaj over an $86,000 gambling debt in 2017."

A pretty lengthy article from a few weeks ago.

"What John Gotti’s Gambino crime family looks like now in New York"

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/crime/gambino-crime-family-arrests-gotti-b2445276.html

"But it’s a myth to say that the mob is long gone."

"Fast forward to 2023, federal prosecutors in New York on 8 November announced the arrest of 16 members and associates of the Gambino crime family following an international operation alongside Italian authorities. A 17th defendant is also said to be at large."

"Ten of the defendants were arrested and hit with charges in Brooklyn federal court under a sprawling RICO Act indictment which included racketeering conspiracy, extortion, witness retaliation, fraud and embezzlement, and union-related crimes."

Mafiosi from Italy are slowly taking over the crime family’s in New York. The American lads have become too soft and loud

Maybe he posted something he shouldn’t have had?

As this case continues, more and more items bubble to the service;

"Prosecutor: Man who reported death of Pharaoh's witness offered 'hit-man services' "

https://buffalonews.com/news/local/crime-courts/prosecutor-man-who-reported-death-of-pharaohs-witness-offered-hit-man-services/article_b5cbf012-ab49-11ee-9921-f38ccba3b8a9.html

"Since the first indictment in 2019, revelations in the Pharaoh’s strip club case have ranged from tawdry to tragic. The latest disclosure from prosecutors borders on the bizarre – an alleged wannabe hit man misquoting phrases from a Martin Scorsese gangster film."

"The man prosecutors say was offering “hit-man services” is the one who called 911 to report the death of a federal witness in the Pharaoh’s case."

"Around the time Simon Gogolack reported the overdose death of Crystal Quinn – a former exotic dancer who had agreed to cooperate in the federal government’s sex- and drug-trafficking case against strip club owner Peter Gerace Jr. – he was trying to break into the hit-man business, according to the chief prosecutor on the case."

"At a recent federal court hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Tripi cited text messages uncovered by authorities that he said showed Gogolack’s interest around the same time he invited Quinn to spend time with him in Wellsville."

Of course NY/NJ have more to show in the world of organized crime and it's ties to the economic flow from NYCs waterfront.

"Hochul’s right: Fighting the mob on the waterfront never goes out of style"

https://nypost.com/2024/02/01/opinion/hochuls-right-fighting-the-mob-on-the-waterfront-never-goes-out-of-style/

"The city’s dockworkers union wants to stop Gov. Hochul’s plan for a new Waterfront Commission to fight organized-crime corruption. The Jersey branch of the the International Longshoremen’s Association last year got Garden State Gov. Phil Murphy to shuttter the bi-state Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor; now the New York union hopes to block Hochul’s sequel."

“We are no longer in 1953 with Marlon Brando ‘On the Waterfront,’” fumes ILA spokesman James “Cadillac” McMahon, claiming New York shouldn’t spend $5 million to keep the port clean."

"Sorry, Cadillac: Mob influence on the waterfront isn’t dead."

I finished Black Mass last month, great book. I wouldn't doubt the feds still use/turn mobsters. Someone like ****** Bulger had unique connections (handler & brother in Senate). Edit: Bulger's nickname apparently censored.
