BEIRUT (Reuters) - Lebanon believes Saad al-Hariri is being held in Saudi Arabia, from where he resigned as Lebanese prime minister, two top government officials in Beirut said, amid a deepening crisis pushing Lebanon onto the frontlines of a power struggle between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

I've been following events closely since this happened. Saudis are very keen on fighting Iran and Hezbollah is their first target...

A lot has happened since then and as a result, just today, UN has adopted resolution which was proposed by Saudis about human rights violations in Syria ( accusing Assad of 400,000 dead civilians ), North Korea and Iran.

That is another step towards fortifying Saudis external enemy, in mid's of removing Salman's opposition in Saudi Arabia.

Irony of magnitude not seen before.

Lebanon's president accused Saudi Arabia on Wednesday of detaining the Lebanese prime minister, in an escalation of the crisis that followed Saad Hariri's surprise resignation from the kingdom almost two weeks ago.

In comments published on the official Twitter account of the president, Michel Aoun said nothing justifies that Hariri has not returned home so far.

"We consider him detained, arrested" in violation of international laws, Aoun said. It was the first time Aoun describes Hariri as a detainee. He had previously only questioned the "mysterious" circumstances under which Hariri resigned.

The rhetoric further deepens the crisis with Saudi Arabia, which is a backer of Hariri, a dual Saudi-Lebanese national.

So glad they were elected to that position. How much influence does SA hold over the UN that they, of all nations, should be in charge of human rights?

It seems that common goal which Saudis now share with their 'allies' is enough to make Saudis became moral authority of some sort.

We all know that they are the last country which has the right to preach about human rights.

So, in short, it's not that Saudis have influence at all but that those who control UN surely wan't SA to became respectable member of anti-Iranian group..

UN is really losing all credibility, even those tiny bits which were left.
