Still Waters Posted November 30, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2017 (IP: Staff) · The arm bones of women who lived 7,000 years ago show an incredible level of strength - even higher than today's elite athletes. That's according to a first-ever study comparing prehistoric bones to those of living people. The finding suggests a revision of history - the everyday lives of prehistoric women were filled with hard manual labour, rather than just sitting at home doing lighter domestic tasks while the men slogged. https://www.sciencealert.com/prehistoric-women-stronger-than-elite-rowers-manual-labour-anthropology 7 Top

freetoroam Posted November 30, 2017 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Yep...can not imagine women in those days sitting around putting make up on or knitting. No dishwashers or home delivery services back then 4 Top

+Hammerclaw Posted December 1, 2017 #19 Share Posted December 1, 2017 One's muscular development is proportionate to one's labors. During the days of the tall ships, the ships-of-the-line, sailor's families lived on board with them, usually on the gun deck. In battle, women aided their men and even manned the cannon if a man fell. A male child born on the gun deck was sometimes called a "son-of-a-gun(ner)", an expression we still use today, 'though the meaning is lost. 1 Top

freetoroam Posted December 1, 2017 #21 Share Posted December 1, 2017 Hmmm. I beg to differ with this bit: Quote The Venus of Willendorf is a superbly crafted sculpture of a naked obese woman from the stone age Superbly? Really? Its a bit of "art" but too much credit being given. No matter how old, its still gross. 3 Top
