Three tracks you'd choose

I have this "what if" nagging idea: you have to leave Earth, and you can take only three music tracks. Hmmm... What you'll choose?

After some thinking, I came up with:

1) AC/DC - Live Wire;

2) AC/DC - Carry Me Home;

3) Accept - Princess of the Down.

What you would choose?

Remember, just 3 tracks, no more.

Lets say you have to choose (say, at gun point) before launch pad, for the sake of simplicity. Just three tracks. Whats your selection?

Leaving Earth....for what though? Endlessly traveling through space alone? Or to found a colony on some other planet? Because that'd influence the answer.

Since there's no way I'd leave Earth to travel space all alone, I'll just go with the "colony" scenario.

1)Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights
2)Mike Oldfield/Maggie Rylie - Moonlight Shadow (the extended version)
3)Panic! At the Disco - Northern Downpour.

Now we have already nine tracks!

Three tracks. Geez...even an 8-track had 8.

If we're leaving Earth to travel space, I'd hope we'd have better tech than that.

But ok...I'll try.

Black Sabbath...Black Sabbath

Ugh, this is difficult.

Led Zeppelin...Black Dog

AC/DC...Let There Be Rock

I just gotta go classic with it.

It's impossible to pick favourites, so I figure I'd be smart about this...

While you folks are all staring forlornly at your spaceship's dashboard, lamenting the fact that NASA forgot to include a "repeat" button on your player, I'm rockin' out into the cosmos

I'm working on hitting an hour. Might have to switch in a bit of Led Zep B)

Three tracks...? Would have been better to say 3 albums/cd's......but. I'm an old guy so here goes,,,,

Ralph Vaughn Williams - Fantasia On A Theme by Thomas Tallis   (or something by Bach.- Brandenburg Concerto or Mozart- Symphony 40...)

King Crimson- In The Court of the Crimson King

Beatles- A Day In The Life... or......9 Feet Underground by Caravan

wow....really tough to choose......

Extremely hard but here goes:

Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper

Neil Young & Crazy Horse  - Cowgirl In The Sand

Yes - Starship Trooper

Those are the songs that would go at this moment but the list is subject to change by the minute.;)

I went with classics that I grew up listening to, and Pink Floyd, the Doors, they were also part of that list.

The first album I ever bought was The Wall. I'm pretty proud of that.

I just couldn't leave AC/DC out of the equation. They were such a huge part of my childhood.

I also wished it would have been albums and not tracks.

It's the sort of thing where you look at other people's lists and go...whew...at least someone else is taking that.

Even though it's all hypothetical, you breathe a sigh of relief.

I didn't get a record player until the late 60's, I was more of an 8-track guy.

It is pretty agonizing, because you just think of all the great music that no one would ever know existed.

Just 3 tracks is almost impossible, but if forced ...

1. Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull  (thats over 40 minutes to start with :D )
2, Empire of the Clouds - Iron Maiden (nearly another 20 minutes :D:D )

and finally, a song I doubt anyone else here will have heard of, a cover by an old friend from lochailort of a song originally recorded by Tony Joe White, and only 6 minutes long ...

3. Closer to the Truth - Jim Hunter
