I think it's already starting. I'm freakin' freezing today.

I'm going to assume we don't really know and ignore all climate predictions beyond 3 days....

It's so cold that I'm not even taking a walk today (and I usually walk in all weather). It's just brutally cold.

“This cold period could begin as early as 2021”

The good news is that the debate will only last for about 3 years.

The area I live in is supposed to gave milder winters.  The last 2 have been colder than usual.  This news doesn't surprise me

...and then there's Australia. Where it is currently 22 degrees (Celsius) at 5:30 in the morning. ^_^

It was so cold this morning...

How cold was it?

It was so cold, I saw a socialist with his hands in his OWN pockets!

Ba da bing...

This is why it is difficult to accept global warming predictions. Truth is- nobody really knows. One really big volcano could literally catapult the earth into an ice age in an instant. it has actually happened. There are many mechanisms that could change the current path of the future climate. If we have 2 or 3 climate changing events simultaneously, it could happen this year.

Human pollution is influencing climate, the climate is changing but we don't know what will happen for sure. 5km of ice because of high humidity causing snow precipitation that don't have time to melt during the summer or ocean surge of 30m putting all coastal area under water... Who knows. The problem is the speed of change and not the change itself. Climate is always in evolution but normally you got time to adapt.

Quote: But she cautions that her mathematical research cannot be used as proof that there will be a mini ice age this time around, not least because of global warming.

Her get out of jail card methinks.

Yes, the Earth naturally goes through warming and cooling cycles.    And, apparently, for the past few years, at least, we've been in a cooling phase .....

A scientists says so, so it must be true!  :D

If the Thames freezes over again, can we have that market on the ice back?

It feels great here in Florida right now, except for some mildly cold rain that came through today. Otherwise, days have mostly been warm. Atlanta got it bad recently. Just my luck, I was there when things iced over. Beats the hell out of all those winters I spent in Chicago and Indianapolis.

The last solar minimum was in 2008.  The next one will be in 2019.  By 2021 We'll be coming out of it.

Unless we get a "cold sun" condition, things will be warming up.  And even if we get a "cold sun" condition, it is unlikely anybody is going to notice, other than solar astronomers and maybe some climatologists.

Do the chemtrail spraying make it even cooler, since it dims the atmosphere? Can it tip the predicted coming mini ice age into a real ice age?

I think we're going to have to wait and see. It would be nice if we have 30 years where things aren't heating up, but I suspect that we're just going to take those for granted and not fix a damn thing.

Doug, again talks about things he doesn't understand.

The Sun is getting quieter, and this is something almost everyone agrees will lead to cooler temperatures. Look at these double peaks of the last two Solar cycles and notice the one we are exiting right now is ~ 58% of the last double peak around 2000 - 2002.

In the year 2000AD, scientists said that soon, England winters will be as hot as Spain summers.

I'm still waiting for that too happen.
