Are Major DNC Donors Bailing?

Has the Democratic party gone a bit too far to the left?

It appears that some major donors might think so: https://www.mediaite.com/online/dem-donor-slams-party-on-msnbc-for-going-too-far-left-hopefully-well-get-our-sht-together/

IMO the Democrats really need to move more to the center. Were the DNC to promote centrist Democrats they would be better off IMO.

The DNC these days is The party of NO.

"Resist!" Ok, what have you done lately beside pout like children instead of meeting with your friends across the aisle?

Just take a look at Cryin' Chuck and Wacko Nancy

They are siding Bernie Sanders and Pocahontas Warren.

Far Left is an understatement.

All they do vote against everything proposed by the Majority.

Maybe they will put down their pacifiers when it comes to the infrastructure bill that's in the works.

No organization that holds to one extreme or the other will ever truly appeal to more than the "outliers"... This is basic "6-Sigma statistics" for crying out loud...

NormalCurve.gif.63c8133e85ec93176b0eb661064cfc2d.gif

The vast majority of people in the world fit in the range called "3-Sigma" (99.73% of the population) in regards to their adherence to their social, political and cultural norms ... That is three "bands" from center... The further your organizations "center" is from the peak of the bell curve the more of the population is outside of the area you "cater to"...

A more centrist policy, or organization will just naturally appeal to more people...

You realize by posting this you'll probably encourage donations to the DNC, right?

If it causes the DNC to move more to the center then I'm glad to have helped.

Maybe you didn't read what I said.

I said it's going to encourage people to donate to the DNC.

It's not a very wise tactic from the right.

I understood exactly. Since the major donors (those with the big money) are not all too happy with the DNC's shift to the far left, it's a move to a more centrist position that would increase donations. And, if the Democrats take a more centrist position that's a good thing...IMO anyway.

It's silly to donate to an entire party.  What if I like the Republican candidate better?

That sounds like just another load of propaganda.

It will have the effect of motivating the average Dem to donate...en masse.

A great deal of them don't even bother to vote, much less donate money.

Could do though. Look at the Labour Party in the UK. Shift further left and draws huge numbers of small donations rather than a small number of large ones.

Don't underestimate the money everyday people will spend if you p*** them off enough!

Its funny that this donor feels that way, I have read many times that the party is losing donors for the exact opposite reason. While leftist organizations are receiving massive increases in donations the DNC is losing donations because they aren't left enough.

Hillary is a female John McCain , the two parties are largely indistinguishable when it comes to actual policy.

Exactly.  We are at a point where people voting for what they feel is right are torn apart by their party.  Anyone using the word "far" needs to take a look in the mirror.

It may... but in 2017 so far, it hasn't: http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/22/politics/dnc-rnc-fundraising-election-day/index.html

I find it a bit surprising that, with all the heated rhetoric from entertainment types and Dem leaders in the Congress, that 2017 appears to have been a negative year for donations.  I wouldn't worry too much though.  What with the media solidly in their back pocket, the Progs can get their message out even without funds.

Tories = Conservative (right wing party in the UK)  :)

My dad always said an American socialist is about as left wing as one of their activists.

Yeah i found that post...amusing to say the least

"Why CK,everyone knows the political clout UM posts hold over America!"

Sometimes it's a good idea to sit the internet device down,go outside once in awhile, and live/deal/interact with the real world...

From my experience in dealings with UM folk none are here to have their minds changed, and if some moron is just going to throw money away on a group just because of the letter in front of a party name...well a fool and their money is easily parted ;)

IMO the Democrats really need to move more to the center. Were the DNC to promote centrist Democrats they would be better off IMO.

The entire country needs to take a much sharper turn to the left than we already are.

Of course they’re bailing, they’re not getting the return on their investment they were promised, they were told they’d own an unassailable President (anyone who disagreed with her was a sexist, who could win that argument?) and instead they got one of their own, therefore someone who knows how they play the game from their side, in the Oval Office.
