erhaps it's time to look at how things actually work out in reality verses just looking the other way and saying that all systems of government are somehow of equal value? It sounds really nice to always keep the discussion oh so politically correct....but this doesn't help places like Venezuela (and many other locations in the world as well).

In reality the US government has spent billions of dollars and decades to undermine Venezuela's government. Perhaps socialism as Venezuela implemented it is a losing system, due to American interference we just don't know though.

My wife went and lived in a place where they practiced socialism during college.  It was a Kibbutz in Israel.

Y'all are probably tired of me harping on this same point, but the reason the Kibbutz in Israel works as an example of Socialism is because the underlying ideology of Judaism gives a stable foundation to the Socialist ideals.

And that's why Socialism never works in an atheist society: there's no underlying ideology on which to build the idyllic paradise that Socialism claims to be. Socialism rests on the fallacy that an ideal society will follow, whereas in reality an ideal society must come before.

Hence why Russia fell to Marxism after it departed from Christianity. Well said

I agree with you.  American values will never work with true socialism.

Things between Venezuela and the US were pretty good before Chavez...there's a lot of accusations back and forth after that. But, the current leader Maduro is nothing but a dictator and IMO responsible for the majority of the mess the country is in.

The only places some versions of socialism work is also in places with strong capitalism. Places where people make really good money and have small populations.

It would only lessen our values anyway. Socialism is theft. No one has a right to take away what another has earned.

It would also completely kill innovation. Why would anyone work towards bettering themselves, when it would just be taken away? Taken away to give it to others, many of whom don’t want to do anything with their lives.

I can definitely see wanting to fix the problems we have with capitalism. Much of which would actually be easy to do. I can’t understand why anyone would want to turn to socialism as an answer.

Eventually humanity will need to look at itself as a macro-organism instead of a micro-organism.  We are currently like a virus rotting it's host away.  We will need to learn to live as a single symbiotic organism or eventually we will collapse.  There's a reason why our cities are like mold colonies.  Dead in the center with the life in the suburbs.

socialism is still not an answer, its principles are not comparable with human nature on a large scale. lets not try over and over again what is proved to be a failure.
