Absolutely, and same apples to other nations and between and across nations.

Other nations business is their business. While I'd certainly like to see this happen for all of humanity it's not my nations burden to bear. Get ones own house in order before one begins to look toward others.

Here's the elephant in the room. Any group of people that are at the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum (regardless of race, ethnicity, religion) are going to have higher levels of crime. Poverty and despair breed crime, not ones race, ethnic group or religion. This is a fact and we ignore it at our peril. The solution to this problem lies in developing an economically strong nation where there exists good education and opportunity for all Americans. Turning people against one another without addressing the issues of education, jobs, economic prosperity does not work...it actually exacerbates the problem. Time to see ourselves as not a bunch of sub-groups but as one group, Americans period. Developing a mentality of us all being 'one people' regardless of our superficial differences is the real way to ensure social and economic justice for all.

I'd agree, but add that a person's culture affects them also. Someone who embraces a divisive, or repressive, or violent, culture will more often then average show criminal tendencies, regardless of socio-economic status. Also some sub-cultures of the US also appear (?) to not value education, even though more education would generate more income, and more authority, more respect... Then they otherwise would have.

If there was one group that we all considered ourselves part of, it would greatly decrease crime and just about all other social ills. Just look at Japan to see that unity decreases crime. Unfortunately this would also mean a decrease, in some form, of diversity, which regardless of it being a Progressive Identity Politics touchword, is actually a good way to get new buisinesses and new ideas into the economy.
