Alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur ‘undoubtedly believed he had outsmarted everyone’

The case of five men who Toronto police believe were murdered by the same person suggests a rare, brazen and organized killer, say homicide experts.

Bruce McArthur, a 66-year-old landscaper, has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of Andrew Kinsmen, Selim Esen, Majeed Kayhan, Soroush Mahmudi and Dean Lisowick.

Police have found the dismembered, skeletal remains of three unidentified people in planters at a Leaside home. They have identified 30 properties linked to McArthur through his landscaping business.

I "liked" your comment for the last link. I didn't know that someone was saved.

I didn't know about that until today either. This is a crazy story. Police are finding human remains in people's yards where he worked

This is scary.  Never mind him being a sadistic killer, but interacting with children in such a way.  Can you imagine recognizing him in pictures with your children?  People like him make me think we should bring back the death penalty.

Why? It doesn't prevent them.

Because we pay for them to live better than our seniors.  We need to put victims and law abiding citizens first and ensure their safety and quality of living over someone who takes other citizen's rights and safety away.

They don't live better. They just 'live'.

It's cheaper to keep them, than to kill them.

Bruce McArthur: What we know and don't know

Toronto Star Toronto Star

-- Bruce McArthur, a 66-year-old landscaper, was charged with murder on Jan. 18 in the deaths of Selim Esen and Andrew Kinsman, who went missing from Toronto's Gay Village in 2017 under mysterious circumstances.

-- McArthur was charged with three more counts of murder on Jan. 29 in relation to the deaths of Majeed Kayhan, Soroush Mahmudi and Dean Lisowick.

-- Police have also confirmed that human remains were found in planters at a Leaside home where McArthur worked as a landscaper.

-- On Feb. 8 police confirm the remains of six people have been identified. They say one set of remains belonged to Andrew Kinsman.

-- Investigators have confirmed McArthur had a sexual relationship with Kinsman. It’s not known what kind of relationship McArthur had with other alleged victims.

-- McArthur lived in the Thorncliffe Park area and was known in the Church and Wellesley area.

-- Police have searched multiple properties connected to McArthur in Toronto and one in Madoc. They have now expanded their search into the Peel and Durham regions.

-- Police "believe there are more victims."

-- Project Prism — the police investigation into the Kinsman and Esen disappearances — was launched in July 2017.

-- Project Houston is the police investigation launched in 2012 into the disappearance of three men who frequented the Gay Village around that time: Skandaraj Navaratnam, 40, Abdulbasir Faizi, 42, and Kayhan, 58. According to Xtra, McArthur once dated Navaratnam.

-- McArthur was convicted of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm for attacking a man with a pipe in 2001. As a result, McArthur was barred from an area of downtown that included the Gay Village and his conditional sentence prohibited him from spending time with “male prostitutes.”

-- It’s not known what role his previous conviction may have played in helping investigators narrowing in on McArthur.

Is this sort of condition normal in Canada? If not, it looks like they may have been onto him for awhile.

Not if they are hanged right after sentencing.
