Ok folks, I realize vaccinations can be a hot button topic. But it's one that needs to be discussed in a civil and decent manner, or the thread will be completely shut down.

Keep in mind the site rules you all agreed to when you signed up here, and leave the hostility and vitriolic tone to the commentary for somewhere else other than UM please.

Apologies if I crossed a line.

The people who actually study this say that there is no link to the vaccine, and that the cause is mostly genetic, however there may be multiple factors.

Just because the experts don't know something for certain, it doesn't mean that the celebrities necessarily do.

They're basing this all on one fraudulent study.

The fact is that 1 day old babies are given the Hep B vaccine, a sexually transmitted disease to a baby with no immune system is insane.

So a mothers defences are still active for up to a year, well explain this, why give a baby any vaccine at all when it cannot possible start to produce any antibodies?

But please dont let your ignorance stop you from posting, I welcome the chance to debunked your nonsense.

From the CDC website...

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommends administration of hepatitis B vaccine and hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) for infants born to HBV-infected women within 12 hours of birth

It seems like you don't know basic things about the development of an immune system in an infant, and why they give these vaccines to day old babies.

And yet you speak of ignorance.

They're giving it to them because their Mothers are infected.

What has celebrities got to do with this beside providing a straw-man arguement?

There are thousands of cases where the toddler is absolutely fine, and then a few hours after a vaccination, especially this MMR jab, a few hours later the child changes right before the parents eyes.

Did you watch the whole video?

Celebrities have been champions of the anti-vaxx movement.

And they have based their assumptions on one fraudulent study. One.

No one bases medicine on one study, to begin with. And then 10 of the 12 involved in the study retracted because they realized Wakefield was a fraud.

Ultimately, it's a lot of people who don't understand science thinking that they know better than people who know better.

They (big pharma) get taken to court all the time - but if youve no evidence you wont get very far.

The discussion of what causes Autism is an interesting one.  Best guess so far seems to be that its caused by  a range of overlapping factors.  Certainly it was on the rise in UK and USA before MMR, so you can't really construct a causal link.  The occurrence of it within a population varies wildly from nation to nation (probably partly due to differences in how its diagnosed and reported) and no single common factor has been found thats connected with it. My favourite suggested cause is the one the Swedes came up with Vinyl Floor coverings!

A tricky aspect is whether it has always been present and just not really reported before. Consider that the rise in Autism is only noted in developed countries after a massive drop off in child mortality.  Its entirely possible it was around and was simply written off as children who were difficult, or stupid, or badly behaved or some such.

And the really sad part is that their children's health is at risk because they insist on believing some crazy thing they read on the internet over what scientists have actually said about this.

And this vaccine helps in which way, to a day old baby?

A day old baby. A few hours old - with no fully functioning immune system to react to this in any practical way.

And seeing as you know everything, how come they inject premature babies with this stuff, having to have special unites ready because of the commonality of so many dire reactions, and why is the infant mortally death rate in the US much worse then any other industrial nation?

Genetics seem to be the largest component, but there are indications it's not as simple as that. There are likely many different contributing factors.

It's just that there's no evidence the MMR vaccine is one of them.

They're doing everything they can to avoid the baby contracting Hep B from the birthing process.

The whole thing started with Wakefield. His fraudulent study was the only one that ever showed anything like this, and it was discredited.

No one has been able to replicate the findings.

Again...why do you think it doesn't have an immune system?

It's weaker than an adult's (so it's easier to catch Hep B or pretty much anything else), but they have one.

It's also sad that you think watching a youtube video online is research. There is actual research out there you could look at if you weren't being so stubborn.

lots of people tried.

lots and lots.  That first reply of mine contained a link to a meta-study that came back with a resounding not a lot...

Of course they tried. Immediately. And discredited the study. I think he was actually found guilty of ethics violations, to boot.

You're just making assumptions, and they're all wrong.

A simple visit to his wiki page clears it all up.

After the publication of the paper, other researchers were unable to reproduce Wakefield's findings or confirm his hypothesis of an association between the MMR vaccine and autism,[8] or autism and gastrointestinal disease.[9]A 2004 investigation by Sunday Times reporter Brian Deer identified undisclosed financial conflicts of interest on Wakefield's part,[10] and most of his co-authors then withdrew their support for the study's interpretations.[11] The British General Medical Council (GMC) conducted an inquiry into allegations of misconduct against Wakefield and two former colleagues.[12] The investigation centred on Deer's numerous findings, including that children with autism were subjected to unnecessary invasive medical procedures such as colonoscopies and lumbar punctures,[13] and that Wakefield acted without the required ethical approval from an institutional review board.

You're assuming that these are the same people.

On the other hand, we actually know that Wakefield had financial conflicts of interest. That has been established.

From naturallysavvy.com

"A child’s immune system will start to develop on its own at about 2-3 months of age. At this point the antibodies that mother has conferred start to decline. A baby’s immune system begins to grow and develop when it comes into contact with bacteria, viruses and fungi and can wage an attack against them. By 1 year of age a baby will have developed its immune system significantly, although not entirely. Some experts suggest an immune system is not fully developed until a child is approximately 12-14 years of age, when they finally reach adult levels of antibody formation."

What is truley sad is how some folks can defend fraud, cover-ups, felonies, and monumental greed at the cost of our children's well being, due to not even bothering to watch a simple youtube video. In fact it is more than sad, but I wont go there.

You havent answered the question, did you watch the whole thing?

The fact that Autism is at least 60-90% heritable, with the added factor that chances for Autism increase with the Father's age...and then if you add in that it was on the rise before the MMR vaccine even came into the equation...you've got not a leg to stand on.

Why is naturallysavvy.com a source for anything?

This is what I'm talking about.

There is actual research out there if you're willing to look at it.

A dot com site is not a research site.

A youtube video is not research.

Do you understand that? Because if you won't hear that, then it doesn't matter what I say to you.
