Parkland School Shooting Discussion Thread

Documents have come out saying that last year, some school and law enforcement officials were so concerned about Cruz's mental state, they wanted to involuntarily commit him, but nothing was followed up on. Dropped the ball again! The documents are now part of the criminal case against Cruz.

Geez, what’s wrong with these people? They’re like movie versions of bad security.

That school is just bad luck since the shooting. What was a homeless man doing at a school? Inside of it nonetheless!

He left it at a beach bathroom.

Florida school shooting: New video shows 'blunders'

New footage from this year's deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida, shows officials were "underprepared" and "overwhelmed", local media say.

Seventeen people died in the shooting in February, including 14 students.

"A gunman with an AR-15 fired the bullets, but a series of blunders, bad policies, sketchy training and poor leadership helped him succeed," the Sun Sentinel says, after it reconstructed events using surveillance footage and official reports.

Its investigation comes as a preliminary report into the shooting is set to be delivered to state officials on 1 January.

A draft version, from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, was released earlier this month.

The commission investigating a shooting massacre at a Florida high school have unanimously approved its initial findings and recommendations, including a controversial proposal that teachers who volunteer and undergo training be allowed to carry guns.

The 15-member Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission's 446-page report, which was released on Wednesday, details what members believe happened before, during and after the February 14 shooting attack that left 17 dead dead and 17 others wounded.

The commission has sent the report to Governor Rick Scott, incoming governor Ron DeSantis and the Legislature.

The Legislature would have to approve the proposal to allow teachers to carry guns. It is currently opposed by the teachers union and the Parent Teacher Association.

So then, this says what? That we can't rely on anyone but ourselves for self defense. How often have we been told that only police and military should have guns?

yea, they can't just openly say, they do not want to have guns, they are scared you will turn it on them.  as far as public safety they are willing to trade your safety for theirs. safety of their ruling over you and you not having any ability to protest their tyranny.

A former Florida sheriff's deputy has been arrested on felony charges over his handling of the deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland last year.

Broward County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Scot Peterson, 56, was terminated from his position and charged with multiple counts of child neglect on Tuesday after an internal investigation found that he retreated while students were under attack in the February 2018 shooting, that left 17 people dead.
