Still Waters Posted February 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2018 The large mammals that inhabit sub-Saharan Africa were illegally smuggled into Colombia by Escobar and kept at his vast ranch, the Hacienda Napoles. Elephants, giraffes, rhinoceroses also populated the majestic farm as if it were Escobar’s personal Noah’s Ark. But after his fall, the Colombian State expropriated the hacienda and moved its exotic residents to zoos in the cities of Medellín and Bogotá. Everything, that is, except for the hippos. http://www.euronews.com/2018/02/20/colombia-declares-war-on-pablo-escobar-s-hippos
Myles Posted February 24, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 24, 2018 I don't think they have much of a choice. They should put a bounty out on them.
DanteHoratio Posted April 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2018 They have to send people to kill them, as terrible as it sounds. There is nothing in Colombia that can hunt Hippos other than humans. In Africa, pride of Lions and Nile Crocodiles were only the only animals that hunted them, and even then, it was rare. Crocs usually went after baby Hippos, and save with Lions(although there are cases of Lion prides bringing down full grown Hippos, and some people have claimed that Gustave the infamous Nice Crocodile often killed full grown Hippos). GlitterRose Posted April 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2018 How the heck do you smuggle a hippopotamus? You'd think they'd be obvious.
+Hammerclaw Posted April 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 22, 2018 Just put a bounty on them and they'll be no match for the greatest predator of all.
