qxcontinuum Posted March 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2018 Although the following article, similar to many other presents the image to depict an alien spaceship https://www.************/news/5721963/alien-hunters-crash-landed-spaceship-antarctica-google-earth-picture/ the photo which can be seen on google Earth is definitely intriguing... However the fact it comes from the mountain shows the possibility of some sort of sliding rock rather than a crash.
Saru Posted March 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2018 It looks as though what the image actually shows is an avalanche. https://www.livescience.com/61926-snow-antarctica-google-ufo.html

It is not a mountain, it is a glacier and that is not a rock it is a block of ice. On 3/5/2018 at 0:44 PM, Hammerclaw said: A rather precise and linear avalanche. Make sure you are looking for ice avalanches on the sides of glaciers Edited March 7, 2018 by Merc14
stereologist Posted March 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2018 You see these things all of the time in the mountains. Blocks of rock or ice will get loose and slide down a snowy expanse which in this case is on a glacier. In a quick look I found a linear track in the Tetons. The ice block seems to have been destroyed in this case or it is the rock that is mostly buried at the end of the track. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Middle+Teton/@43.7214549,-110.8246963,179m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x5353ab7683cffc69:0x543ad242166f6a67!8m2!3d43.7299301!4d-110.8113252?hl=en Lots of smaller linear tracks here off of Middle Teton https://www.google.com/maps/place/Middle+Teton/@43.7326457,-110.8181609,129m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x5353ab7683cffc69:0x543ad242166f6a67!8m2!3d43.7299301!4d-110.8113252?hl=en I've seen huge pieces head down the snow when climbing in this area.
