I hate to be pessimistic, but I think it'll end up being a P.R. stunt, by both parties.

I agree. I picture them both losing their temper and engaging in a b*tch slapping contest. :D

One thing is for sure. The top advisers on both sides are going to be whispering the same thing in both their ears.....It's gonna sound a little bit like " Hey, try not to p*** that dude off too much"

We ALL have our "agendas".  Your 'reading between the lines" is fine until you make statements as though they are facts when they clearly aren't facts.  I don't care at all what you think of America or Trump, that's your business.

There's not going to be any war. North Korea couldn't win and any victory for the winners would by a pyrrhic one. So, they're going to talk, negotiate, bargain, offer proposals and counter-proposals and eventually come to an agreement  The result will be the preservation of the status quo, the preservation of the NK regime and the SK's peace and prosperity. Both side's military will return to station keeping with much less overt inimical posturing. Once the ice is broken and both leaders meet face-to-face, the pressure will be on both of them to cut a deal. It's what Republicans do best. Only Nixon could go to China.

Except that China or Russia could someday use the Norks as a scapegoat to sucker-punch the U.S. with an EMP.  If the devastation that has been predicted by such an attack turns out to be true, the loss of NK would be a very small price for them to pay.  My guess is that we'd spread the wealth around.

Seeing those as facts in any way, even sarcastically, makes me happy when you say it :) [edit] skip to last part of this post if you do not need complete answer here, that's in short what's important.

If you do not care what i think then why are you so persistent in trying to make me look as anti-Semitic or anti-American? You've did that many times so far and you have try it here too but that's because you do not understand me - not because you are correct and that's fine actually. That's why i made longer post to explain it, i think i am right about this.

Most important, i do not care if anyone labels me anything anymore because in these times it's trendy thing to do, mostly just empty talk without basis in reality. Good article and quote from it :

"The criminalization of political speech and activism against Israel has become one of the gravest threats to free speech in the west.” Glenn Greenwald 19.7.2017

And that's why we often have misunderstandings in politics because i see you as committed Zionist and you see me as if i was cousin of Tamimi family ( not that it's a bad thing ), hence accusations of agenda.

Trump, factually, has done great injustice to Palestinians and AIPAC's 'honorable' Nikki 'Nimrata' Haley even brags about those moves at recent AIPAC meeting as if she was speaking to freaking Al Capone instead of ladies and gentleman who were present.

Such politics moved over to rhetoric against nuclear armed country, describing it's leader as '' little rocket man ''. Is that language of top officials? Of those who have sworn to safeguard every aspect of American diplomacy and internal security? What i say here actually is factually based on real events and real words. If Kim was 'mad' as Hollywood try to depict him than i wonder one thing, use your logic:

was Trump insane because he was teasing mad dog? Was he dumb? Or is it that simply Western accusations against Kim are not true? It's simple.

You can read only this last part if post is too long and uninteresting - Most important, everything here is simply talk between members and only few of us on UM discuss these things so use your logic again : what difference could this talk make here on UM? I use other sites for serious discussion, sites where every member shares same interests but not same views and where we share book titles instead of personal accusations. So, for the sake of discussion I'll make us new topic in ME soon and let's party man :)

Why Trump, why couldn't it be Obama rocket man talks to?   WHY!!!

Probably because Obama had functional State Department and other details your Fussolini thinks are just getting in the way of his own do-it-yourself diplomacy, that consists of spewing random threats, promises, outrageous claims, then pouting and wondering why no one takes him seriously.

Obama didn't have to put the function of POTUS in potentially controversial situation (current Kim or his predecessors were political lepers for a reason). Your country used to have very efficient professional diplomats that would do the communication between the officials that had actual power of decision. Kim doesn't have that.

When NK situation occasionally escalates, the talking has to be done with China. By professionals who know what they're doing. Trump doesn't have that.

And mentioning all this makes me wonder all over again - how was it even possible for US to allow this... I have no word what...

You, of course, do not want to realize, so it's easy for you, but I can't stop pondering how the hell was it even possible.

And Yet its Trump who has come closer to any actual results then any of them. Results that didn't give everything on our part, and get nothing from them. I cant wait to see what BS you folks are gonna spew if something actually gets done here.

Stormy is WAY down my my list of priorities.

I really don't care.

...but...but.....he's a liar and a cheater!!

My life wasn't affected by anything that disgusting bimbo has said.

Kennedy messed with Marilyn Monroe, Clinton messed with Flowers and Lewinsky and Trump messed with this Daniels woman...I could care less really. The only person that needs to deal with this is Mrs Trump. Now, if Trump starts bringing his little 'friends' into the Oval Office to perform sex acts that is disrespectful IMO. But, other than that, this is not a national issue by any means. Presidents have not historically been 'boy scouts' by any stretch of the imagination.

As to the meeting with Kim, I have no idea how this will play out. That said, I don't trust North Korea and I certainly don't advocate giving them any money.

That's precisely what I'm afraid of - there could be actual results of careless, destructive babbling.

I hope not, though, since the other parts involved (China and Russia) don't rely on amateurs.

We don't have to explain the Chinese role in NK politics, or to make it more accurate, NK role in Chinese politics, while Russia joined in, trying to give little b****** some independence by letting him claim one of their nukes. I'm not sure what was Chinese opinion of that particular escapade, but I'm guessing it was with some sort of their consent.

What I am sure about is the scary part and that is that Trump wouldn't be able to follow this at all.

Has he?  Announcing a meeting before it has happened without the earlier proclaimed prerequisites (nuclear disarmament)?

Kim's propaganda machine is probably bragging right now on how they got the president of the United States to come on his knees to negotiate with them once they got nukes.

No, they rely on Dictators.

So... how's that been working for them for the last 25 years?

I prefere our system, but it does appear that the Left isn't to thrilled with Democracy anymore... or any time any vote goes against them, calling it "Populism" to make the popular vote itself look like a bad idea.

Will the Left turn to canonizing the N'orks, like they tried with the guy's sister at the Olympics? It certainly does appear that there isn't a single  person of any kind that the Left won't side with if that person can be turned against Trump... even those who consider themselves at war with the US want to destroy America and every living thing within our borders.

''

Rather than confront the North Koreans and demand they halt their efforts to create a uranium enrichment capability, the intelligence findings gave those in the Bush administration who opposed the Agreed Framework a reason to abandon it. John Bolton, then- undersecretary of state for arms control and international security under President Bush, later wrote that “this was the hammer I had been looking for to shatter the Agreed Framework.”''

Taken from this link.

There were times when something was close to be done before Trump too. North does have it's share of guilt here but let's compare this with Iranian deal. Missiles were not part of the 'agreed framework' as in case of North but, regardless, it was another demand on top of what's agreed earlier. Around this point thermonuclear bomb was already in process of being made and reports point out that 2005 was the year when North managed to develop those.

BMHO, as in Iranian deal, politicians have to learn that after deal is sealed you try to make another one on top of it, not reform it by doing one sided effort but, if we agree and believe what John Bolton has said (and compare it to rhetoric against Iranian deal) it's becoming clear that adversaries are necessity in this world, for one reason or another.

I wish that Trump does it, hell he might surprise us all but it's hard to expect because there are many 'John Bolton's' in his administration today. One important thing to note, i have never heard that North would give up it's nuclear arsenal, at least not from North Korean officials, it's what the South has been telling.

Maybe someone has link to inform me about this (about North being officially open to give up it's nukes), thanks in advance.

You're trying so hard you'll sprain your keyboard or something :D

So, dictators. Certainly. Real, live dictators with functional administrations. Unlike your Trumpolini, who is wannabe dictator without administration. Prove me wrong by naming people who didn't resign, were fired or are not regularly on the verge of resignation/being fired. You've got blasted Apprentice going on in the White house. It's so bizarre I keep expecting I'll wake up and realize this was just an idiotic nightmare.

There's literal destruction of US going on and only a moron can be happy about it. Having small, efficient and not too thieving government is one thing (and it's one very desirable thing), blowing the structure up something completely, disastrously else.

Now, the IQ. Yes, mine is that much higher than his. He is definitely, undoubtedly below average, which means yours is probably still higher than his too. Again, this truly is the scary part. An intelligent and evil man in power is something to worry about, but below average and evil... that's something to panic about. Kidding. Panic is useless.

I couldn't tell you what 'Left' would canonize, but I can tell you that no lefty is currently POTUS and no lefty is currently literally destroying the US. So try to cut your whataboutism to some acceptable amount, because when you write a short fictional novel about theoretic horrors of the lefty opinion, it looks like you're out of any good arguments in favour of your Trump.

Which can't be, there must be so much to say in favour of Trump's amateur attempts to master the art of diplomacy in between golfing, tweeting and discussing with his lawyers how they'll stop a porn actress from showing the photos too.

All in all, I think it's painfully obvious who needs help here.

Please do troll me again.

What is this destruction you speak of. I’m just a simple moron here. I mean I’m trying to figure out how a guy with a lower iq than any given moron in this thread is the president of the United States and has  grown and maintained a net worth more than everyone in here, all of their ancestors and all of their future kin combined ever has or likely will be. Surely the odds say one of us could easily do the same.

He was born rich and "took over" his daddys company when it was already worth over 200million dollars and then inherited gobs when his father died.

According to Forbes he would actually be richer if he had simply put his money in the bank and left it alone putting even his business acumen into question.

so he turned 200mil into 6B, not to mention being down to 0 more than once, and coming back up every time  good for him.  i see dozens of people who won millions waste them and end up with debt, and even more businesses men who lost everything and never got back up. it amazes me when people with net worth less than cash  trump carries in his valet  scream "he did not build that", "he is stupid" "mine IQ is much higher" blah blah.....  lmao.,
