Trump will meet with Kim Jong Un

Ah, well. Looks like it was just the usual spontaneous crap from Trump.

Quote

It turns out Trump’s foreign policy masterstroke did not come as the result of a Metternichtian calculation but instead a completely spontaneous outburst.

South Korean official Chung Eui-yong was in the White House yesterday meeting with other officials. Trump decided to see Chung right away; maybe Fox News was in repeats or something. Trump “then asked Mr. Chung to tell him about his meeting with Mr. Kim,” reports the New YorkTimes. “When Mr. Chung said that the North Korean leader had expressed a desire to meet Mr. Trump, the president immediately said he would do it, and directed Mr. Chung to announce it to the White House press corps.”

It sounds from this account that Trump had no real idea that North Korea has always wanted a face-to-face meeting with the U.S. president, and the U.S. has always imposed conditions

Sanders, on her usual damage control mode, had to make it clear that the same conditions added by previous administrations would have to be agreed to by NK.

Looks like @Agent0range might have been right about changing the news cycle after all.

C’mon man. That could very well bring out the Trump that lurks beneath. The one everybody like you fears. He’d have faired much better pulling the wool over Obama’s eyes. There’d have been minimal repercussions and if Bernie Sanders were President all the Kim Jongs of the world would be screwing with that sad sack. I don’t think he wants to mess with Trump like that. Do you?

If I were king of my own realm I would certainly feel much more comfortable going after Trump than Obama  if my goal was to do so in a manner which my opponent didn't realize it was happening. Trump's diplomatic "Army" is undermanned and poorly staffed and his arrogance and ego theoretically make him suspect to manipulation.

I also think chances are the Koreans learned a lot from the Chinese on how to handle Trump from his visit there. To borrow from sports they "have tape on him" and can prepare their gameplan accordingly.

Hopefully that's not the case, hopefully Kim and Trump are both coming to the table with honest intentions and the world will be a safer place as a result. My PTSD addled brain will probably need some convincing of that though

I wonder where this face-to-face meeting between the two 'might' take place if things forge ahead. I find it somewhat difficult to imagine that Kim jong-un would visit the White House, or that Trump would visit NK whilst chatting over tea and cake. But then I suppose, the way things are today... anything is possible. Who knows, maybe they'll even decide to have a video chat over Skype.

You have it all wrong.  I do not think Kim will back out.  I think Trump won't actually meet with him.  He wanted to do something to take away from the news cycle which consisted of porn stars and tariffs, just like he wanted to have a televised cute little DACA meeting to prove his mental competence after that weird slurred speech episode.  Trump can say he will meet Kim, but Trump says a whole lotta things.

Like how eager he is to sit down with Mueller. Lol

Well see, this is the thing with Donald Trump at times. He speaks first, then thinks later...hence having to 'pull back' somewhat on his first initial response(s) depending what it's about. It must at times be a difficult job for Sarah Sanders to be the 'fixer' a lot of the time for Trumps errors. I think it eventually took it's toll on poor jitter-bug Sean Spicer.

Seems like a positive to me.

Whatever Kim's motives, Trump's already stated the intention to keep the pressure and sanctions on the North in the interim.

There's nothing to be lost, and everything to be gained from a meeting, especially given the way things have been heading in recent months. Noone could have seen this coming.

As to Kim's motives, who knows? I suspect either pressure from China, or sanctions are finally taking a toll that he can't ignore. The big question is what he's going to ask in return, if he's serious about nuclear disarmament.

What I'll be eagerly awaiting is Trumps remarks after the meeting, if there is one. After all, the best way to get anywhere with Trump is to be the last person to talk to him.

What change?

Every goddamned day, its exactly the same thing, every hour on the hour;

Lead story; "Here's some more tabloid crap about Trump. We have no idea if it's true, but isn't Gossip fun?"

Middle; From the "if it bleeds, it leads" section; "Here is something disgusting that would normally be nothing but a local story, but have a look at how horrible your fellow humans beings are! Be afraid, be VERY afraid!!!!!"

Rounder; "To avoid charges that we don't do Investigative Journalism anymore, here is another story about how shady your nation's distant past is. You should despise your own country, be ready to help us destroy it someday soon."

Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again....

It has gone from being ridiculous to silly to just plain boring. That's why I have been away for so long, and why CNN and MSN's ratings are in the toilet.

I have to wonder, when you realize that you have been spending 2-5 hours of your life, every day, for years at a time doing nothing but posting Hate Trump in a handful of different ways.... how insane will it drive you guys when you realize that it was all for nothing?

Being goofy can be good sometimes...it helps take the edge off. It sure as hell beats being too serious all of the time. Now THAT'S boring ..

Maybe Kim Jong-Hu isn't quite the ''nutter'' he was made out to be. He seems to be playing his diplomatic cards right. That doesn't mean a NK-U.S. meeting would solve anything but at least The Kim is showing China that he's doing something rational, to de-escalate the situation.

He obviously got what he wanted from his temper tantrum.

OK so yep looking more and more like @AgentOrange was right and this was simply a move to change the narrative away from Stormy Daniels and the fact that Trump is apparently too stupid to sign the NDA's he's trying to enforce.

White House puts an asterisk on Trump, Kim Jong Un meeting

Quote

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump will not meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un unless North Korea takes "concrete and verifiable actions" toward denuclearization, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Friday.

Welp it was a nice dream while it lasted.

First, it was Kim Jong Un who initially tossed out the idea of a meeting (not the White House).

Second, I could care less if 11 years ago Trump used the services of an adult actress (aka prostitute).

Third, AnchorSteam is correct, "Here's some more tabloid crap about Trump. We have no idea if it's true, but isn't Gossip fun?"  This is not only no fun, it's just plain old dumb. It was time to move on over a year ago.

Great to hear from the moral majority

Its a story, sure it doesn't amount to much beyond more evidence of the POTUS' character but the POTUS' character is definitely something worth reporting on.

Sure and he has many times, the difference is this white house accepted it. Well they said they accepted it long enough to take Stormy off the headlines for a little bit. Now the reality is setting in though

It also coincided with their offer to Mueller so it could be they were trying to keep that out of the headlines too.

Right now Kimmy has the missiles and he has nuclear capability. But, what he lacks appears to be the ability to deploy his nuclear ICBMs exactly where he wants them. In order to stop this progression Trump has really been putting North Korea in a vice. I'd hazard a guess that Kimmy wants to extricate himself from this vice by any means possible. Lying like a rug would be a very good option for him...and I don't believe (not for NY minute) that Trump will fall for this.

That wasn't a personal slight. There was a time not too long ago that your party took pride in its morality and actually referred to themselves as such.

The Libertarian Party did this?

Also, I'm more of an Independent (that's what's on my voter registration) as I don't agree with everything contained in the Libertarian platform.

I can see this as being a distraction.  The whole Stormy Daniel's thing does lead more credence to the dossier.  Particularly the claims of prostitute use in Russia.  It pretty much quashes the argument that he would never use a prostitute.

LOL , my apologies I should have said the party you support used to call themselves that since obviously I don't know your actual affiliation.
